@@soundleveleventsproduction9459 I wanted the a4000 based on multiple encodes but all out of stock so I went with 3080Ti with amd threadripper cpu and resizeable bar activated. Although only 3 encodes with TI still happy with the power the TI offers.

Thanks for the clear explanation. I could use some more info on CPU's, both Intel and Amd. A rough indication of what e.g. an 8 core cpu could handle in vMix, would help determine if offloading encodes onto a Professional Gpu is at all needed. I'm struggling to find any usable info on vMix and multithreading, and on NDI versus Hdmi/Sdi capture, as it relates to Gpu/Cpu/multithreading. So: a useful video here but also a bit superficial. If you're making a video about gpu's over Eur 1.000, a bit more depth is desirable.

Cloud video processing doesn't usually work too well without dedicated GPU resources, so I'm not sure how it would fare. If you've already got Windows 365, see how it goes.

Is there value in revisting this subject, but now including Intel Arc to see how well they encode? Still most likely to buy Quadro, but would be good to stay informed if Intel's support of content creation is any good.
@OG_Gamers_Live Жыл бұрын
Can't speak for Vmix's support but the Arc cards a750, a770 do very well and Xsplit and Streram labs etc have already implemented support for the AV1 codecs

Does replay recording count as an encode? Typically 2 streams and one output record would use up 3 encodes.
@DavidStemper3 жыл бұрын
*Usually. *
@PiDsPagePrototypes3 жыл бұрын
'depends',.. and, if you have NDI on the same system it can eat up the encodes as well. If you record in vMix's own CoDec, it will absolutely need to re-encode. If you're recording to the same codec used by the incoming video - mp4 for RTSP/RTMP/NDI, and you can select the same CoDec to record them in, then it shouldn't need to re-encode, and should just straight up record. - Tim & Martin will need to confirm if vMix re-encodes all incoming streams or just passes them through when set to record in the same format as the video is received. If using a HDMI or SDI capture device, and you record in it's native format, then again it shouldn't need to re-encode.
@PiDsPagePrototypes3 жыл бұрын
Also, you're safer setting up a second PC as Replay Recorder, and have it do a single NDI output that your main PC will see as an extra input, then you have a person create the in and out points and play the replays on demand, and have that input to automatically play with transition graphic on the main PC when selected by the person doing the live switching. This also reduces the brain-workload on the people.

Advanced users can use two GPUs. In the nVidia control panel are settings to control which does the desktop and which does the compute functions, and cards that connect with NVLink are seen as one single larger card with shared vram and cuda cores. A lightweight GPU can also be used as a fullscreen HDMI output, same as adding a BMD decklink card
