I was at a venue where Ronan was performing back in like 2002. My friend wanted to go as he was a big fan. I hadn't really been turned on to his music yet and figured it was another one of those bland industrial dance music bands said friend liked. I was outsidetalking to people most of the set...... Didn't think much of it. Years later I started digging into his music and now I'm kicking myself for not paying attention

Me too, I’m a grown ass man and this song makes me feel things that most other songs can’t. I’ve even cried while driving because I’m so moved by it. It’s the lyrics and the song combined that make this piece so special. I love VNV nation, they are the band with the most songs that do this to me. What’s weird is I did some depression therapy called 5-MEO-DMT, and ever since then I can feel music like I’ve never felt before. Amazing stuff, the human brain is so complex and we understand so little about it. Btw, I’ve been dealing with depression for 36 years, it was crippling and nothing ever worked until I did ibogaine + 5-MEO-DMT (within 3 days of each other.) life changing, and if you’re reading this and have crippling depression and anxiety, this is way more useful than any pharmaceutical drug that exists.

I just saw VNV for the first time this week (2024) in Montreal. Perpetual is my favorite song… but they did not play it, sadly. They ended with « All our sins » or something like that… which was not as good. It was a great show but I was sad that they did not play that song.

You can only get such amazing vibes from certain groups. But to get it from the band AND the crowd? Not even The Cure can match VnV for that. Anyone who hasn't seen VnV I CANNOT stress enough how important it is to go to one of their shows. I've been a show junkie for many years and I say that VnV is way beyond anything else. Their music and presence breaches all cultures. Covenant came a close second but that divide between #1 and #2 is vast.
