Mrs./Dr. Ambassador, you speak eloquently and with love and understanding. I realize the USA didn’t colonize Africa (except for Liberia) which is probably the reason Africans have high regard for her and want to align with her. Every country need allies and Africa could certainly benefit from a UNIFIED army for the entirety of the continent! But can you feel the pain of those who were enslaved in this country? With all respect, as an ADOS, I feel we are owed reparations from this country. Where do you and members of the AU stand on the ADOS movement? Why are you and so many Africans in love with a country that continues to murder innocent Black men, Black women, and Black children with impunity? Would you feel differently if the innocent blood was that of an African immigrant? Why do you trust her so? Why should Africans born in America, particularly ADOS, trust you and the AU? Why not partner, first, with ADOS? Anyhow....

They are the ultimate welfare queens! What ADOS has received is chump change. If this country paid us what they owe us we would own it all. I'm sure you may wonder why? My ancestors built the foundation of the United States. They were promised 40 acres and and a mule which would have given us generational wealth. And we never got it. You can be sure that those plantation families still reap the benefits of my ancestors enslavement. And don't get me started on how whenever we begin to progress then came Jim crow, the destruction of black wall street, black codes, redlining, unauthorized medical experiments, poisonous vaccines, police executions of innocent black people and centuries of torture and false imprisonment. IT'S TIME FOR THIS EVIL GOVERNMENT TO GIVE US OUR MONEY BAG!

I admire the ambassador immensely, but it's disappointing to hear her believe the U.S. to be an ally or a BFF based on its colonial past. As a descendant of those who were enslaved here-- who suffered under Jim Crow and have been repeatedly and viciously victimized by laws leading to segregated neighborhoods and schools, job discrimination, an unending wealth gap, disparities in healthcare and child mortality rates and, of course, mass incarceration-- it feels like a slap in the face for one designated to call the diaspora home to desire such chumminess with one so anti everything we are. I don't know if this is shortsightedness or literal ignorance on her part, but after having spent 40 years in this country, how can she not know about America's gross history of anti-blackness even up to this current day? At a recent pan-African conference, I heard her talk about how the diaspora outside the continent should consider investing in a general fund to help build infrastructure on the continent. Thinking of those words while I listen to these sounds like the aim is to use us while ignoring us at the same time. Sort of like the Democratic party has done for 50 years. I do strongly believe the diaspora should turn attention and resources to the Mother continent, her words should caution us to ONLY do so on our terms and, frankly, to leverage our funds and resources wisely. When it's all said and done, all we got is us.
@Ziggi91165 жыл бұрын
It is called diplomacy..do you expect her to muddy the waters with the bully of the world?
@yahschosen78314 жыл бұрын
ALL of that is right on point... and if the diaspora, whom I believe in our hearts that some (many?) WANT to genuinely invest our attention and resources there, one thing mother Africa (or rather the countries within her) should in return offer the diaspora AUTOMATIC DUAL CITIZENSHIP with land or at least full/infinite ownership/partnership of any land purchases made, etc. with NO FUNNY BUSINESS. NOT for the diaspora to go there to exploit anything or anybody, but also not to BE exploited either. This way we CAN come together as a UNITED front and work together to develop for the total well being of Africa and the diaspora as one.
