the waves in FL are really inconsistent for surf despite RJ shop and the climate, etc. needs ground swell. therefore when theres a storm you have to take advantage of it to get legit waves. as foreign as it seems to you - complete opposite for a surfer. surfing RI saturday, yeww

Those are some pretty tiny little storm waves of an alleged storm as big as Dorian is supposed to be. I live in Hawaii and when we have hurricanes our waves on the north shore hit 25-30 feet. Our surfers wait all winter for waves of this size so they can put on an event called the Eddie Aikau Quicksilver surfing competition. I'm surprised the waves in Florida aren't bigger given the storm size.

@@bryanwalters1041 NC locals on the coast are very rehearsed for hurricanes. There's definitely idiots among us, but the vast majority knows the best ways to handle this. At least they made the tourists leave. Places like Hwy 12 on the Outer Banks will likely be all but completely eroded again. Still, a little luck never hurts. Cross your fingers.
