I had trouble with their English-language lyrics at first (which originally came largely from Abah Erza, in discussion with the band) but over time I've come to regard their use of English as a kind of decolonized English, with its own strange poetry and beauty. I think it's part of the punk element of their esthetic - like, we're Voᗺ and we're going twist English to our own purposes and not care how you feel about it. I suspect that if I were raised in an Islamic society speaking primarily a Malayo-Polynesian language and spoke English as a second language (which is the case for tens if not hundreds of millions) their use of English would make more sense to me. Marsya _clearly_ has an ear for lyrics in Bahasa Indonesia and Sundanese. Some people have asked why the refrain in PMS switches to Indonesian(?), but how are you going to match "Aku bukan budak busuk otakmu" in another language? Also note that, with all that assonance, leaning on the /u/, if she chose to tread lightly on the consonants it could flow very smoothly. But she chooses to spit it out and hit the consonants hard, 'cuz that's the punk thing to do. Just my opinion (as one says:-) But I think their use of language deserves reconsideration.

The one who wrote these lyrics is Masrya and always discusses with his teacher... and his teacher is a graduate of English literature university... I admit that sometimes it is difficult to interpret it literally.. and only they can explain the meaning.. so I just enjoy their work

Ini hny kendala aksen budaya bahasa..misalnya di indonesia klo kagum kita katakn" bukan main"...yg klo diartikn bhs inggris scara harfiah tentu" not playing" . tp tentunya gk mungkin di sana mnggunakn bhsa itu..pasti dgn " amazing,incredible" yg di artikn scra standart bhs indonesia sm skli tdk ada yg trjemahan kata dari"bukan main". inilh yg kami sbut beda kosa kata tpi mksdnya sama. jd perlu phmi jk satu kata yg maksudnya sama tpi brbeda artikulasi krn sbrpa bnyk kosa kata dlm bhs inggris..bhs indonesia lbh bnyk lg kosa kata yg blm bnyk tau utk standart internasional..sdangkn bhs inggris udh bnyk yg tau utk standart yg setara di sluruh dunia.

Like you said, opinions. I appreciate you reacting to them. I think this is one of their strongest vocal performances yet. I'm hearing Marsya's emotions coming through. The message is coming through, and not being in their native language, what you took as literal I took as direct and raw. I thought this was a beautiful track.

Don't take other people's rights and don't hurt other people, and must get the owner's permission first before taking something” Hopefully it will be provisions for a good and happy life... (The literal translation involves pancakes, toothpicks, and ginger, so I think it's metaphorical...)

You're right. It's your opinion. But let me give mine, Nimrod. The lyric "Domination is taken by greedy people" is syntactically flawless... What F... English language courses have you taken??? Ever read Pope, Wordsworth, or Dryden?? Now, compare them to Emerson or Thoreau... I'm not even going to get into Wren & Martin's rules of English grammar and composition...
