Many thanks, Chris! Coverdale the 2nd greatest rock voice ever (only Elvis is on Top, of course). Combined with being one the greatest songwriters, lyricists he is undoubtetly one of the greatest of all time! He and the King set the standard on how a male voice should sound. 🙏🎼

David coverdale is a vocal idol, I really liked his approach to lower notes but never understood his grits and higher notes, now I know! Amazing video as always!

I'm so pleased you're looking at David, I learnt so much in one afternoon when I heard DC's speaking voice for the first time just the other day, I was amazed at how much he sounded like Roger Moore! Deep and very resonant, it sounded like he was talking from directly behind his eyes from a huge space and at that moment I finally understood what you teach us about nasality! I spent a happy afternoon making my nose hairs vibrate and I'm in my 50's so there's lots to work with in there! Seriously though, listening to his speaking voice was a revelation and helped me understand so much of what you teach Chris, many thanks to you both! ❤

Bingo Chris. You just hit on something I've known for a while. I love Coverdale's voice since Purple's Burn. I have just seen your Cornell/Cat noise video and randomly typed David Coverdale voice to see some comment on DC's voice. Cornell is another of my favourite singers and I have always felt Coverdale and Cornell draw from the same well of singing with a similar quality/timbre in their voice. Both in low range and belting it out. Seriously thinking about doing your course. Well demonstrated Sir. Fantastic.

You just reminded me how much I learned from David Coverdale’s performance in Deep Purple’s “Mistreated” when I first started singing. I didn’t know anything technical at the time but he was the one to teach me how to “vocal cry” -especially towards the end of the song he does it so obviously but in such an emotional way that it really conveys the feeling of pain and heartbreak in his voice. Also, just such god tier vocal tone there too. Such an overlooked talent. So glad you COVERED, Coverdale 🤘🏼

Awesome, thanks for this Chris. I'd been hoping you might do some videos on some of the older classic rock singers. Would love to see your take on Paul Rodgers (Free/Bad Company) too!

Great video Chris! Vowel choice and placement really go hand in hand, wish I had understood that earlier in my journey. Jorn Lande and Dino Jelusick are two excellent singers that employ a lot of Coverdale's sort of style. Would definitely recommend anyone check them out if you like Coverdale but haven't heard them. Peace!

I believe John Sykes (guitarist) does the high harmonies on the chorus. Also a killer singer in his own right.

There are 3 different versions of this track. First from the album 'Saints & Sinners', the second from the self-titled album with John Sykes on guitar and no heavy keyboards and the third a radio edit with new solos and a heavy keyboard sound reintroduced. Not exactly 'remixes' in the traditional sense perhaps, but all very different. The two album versions are completely different. It would be interesting to analyse the vocal differences between the versions, and see what he's doing differently relative to the style of each track. Really enjoying your videos since becoming a subscriber recently, thanks for the time and effort you put in and keep up the great work.
