Just my opinion.. I think Son Seungyeon wins. Because her vocal to powerfull when she hit the high note. But for me, they have unique sound distinctions. If they sing a duet, it may be more interesting to hear the power of their voices together. 😊

Ailee has the soft tone cuz she's Light lirico soprano, but her high belting is chesty and she pushes to much so the voice quality starts to be whiny and tense above C#5. Son Seung Yeon is a Spinto Soprano and she can belts with the good placement and keeps the resonance from her middle range up to F#5.

I'm the one who study vocal technique too. A spinto soprano is a soprano who has a lirico tone in the low and middle register but the voice can become to the dramatico tone ( of course not as dramatic as the dramatico soprano ). SOn Seung Yeon has the very solid, developed middle belt from E4 to C5 and very metallic and cold tone in the upper register, her vocal becomes thick and trenchant after C5. Even So Hyang's upper belting notes are softer than Son Seung Yeon's ones, so why can't she ? TRẢ LỜI

@@Chanel1-m8i2v Yeah i wasn't sure whether she was a Full-Lyric or Spinto. I think that her voice is too mature to be a Light-Lyric. I mean sure.. Light-Lyrics can have a darker timbre, but definitely not as much as Son Seungyeon. But a good example of a Full-Lyric Soprano would be Lara Fabian ^^

Considering the charm in her voice, I think Son Seungyeon has a charming and unique voice. She can have a voice that is thick and bright at the same time. It is more comfortable to listen to, more open and free than senior Ailee, but I also like headtone. It's clear from Ailee as well.

믹스보이스는 손승연 헤드보이스는 에일리 에일리는 성구전환이 너무 자연스럽고 잘함..그러다보니 노래에 감칠맛도 있고 거기다 휘슬까지 쓸수있으니 뭐 말다했죠. 하지만 소프라노임에도 불구하고 E5만되도 힘들어보이고 pushed되는건 단점 손승연은 반대로 pushed 거의 없이 적절한 비율로 믹스보이스를 낼줄알고 고음낼때 편안함이 두드러짐.. 하지만 성구전환이 힘들어보이고 헤드보이스가 매우 약하다는거.. 그렇지만 둘다 차기 여왕들같아요 ㅎ 나중에도 노래 많이많이 들려주시길

An analysis of their voices from a professional point of view: *Ailee* Ailee’s voice is very soft under C#5. She has a lighter tone and conveys the messages of the songs perfectly with her voice. However, after C#5 she does tend to push and strain a lot more. She isn’t known for making space in her mouth and throat, hence why her high notes always sound very pushy and almost like they’re hurting her. Ailee's head voice is very angelic and soft. It comes to her very naturally, however it is also VERY limited as she cannot go as high as other pop stars can. Overall, Ailee is a very good singer. I rank her at the top with the other KPop Idols who have managed to raise the bar WAY TOO HIGH. She is definitely up there with BLACKPINK's Rosé, SHINee's Jonghyun, and IU. Ailee rating: 7.5/10. *Sonnet Son* Son Seung Yeon, better known as Sonnet Son, has a fuller and rounder tone. She can support all the way to F#5. Her technique is a lot more healthy and she tends to stay within her range as she knows her limitations. However, sometimes, she does tend to go overboard and drain her own energy by hitting notes that are far from her supported range (G5-Bb5). Her head voice, like Ailee's, is very heavenly but also very limited. Overall, Seung Yeon is a very well trained and professional vocalist. She is also the master manipulator of her voice. She can convey Soul, Sexy, Sad, Happy, and Chipmunk-ish tones without effort. Seung Yeon is one of the best non KPop Korean singers, along with Kim So Hyang and Park Ki Young. Sonnet rating: 8/10.

I really have to disagree. Ailee is way better than Rosé. Rosie has a very bad technique if I'm honest. She cant support much, strains a lot and sings out of her comfortable range. Rosé is one of the worst kpop main vocals in my opinion right now

Everything considered, Aliee is overall slightly better than SSY, but SSY has better a slightly better mixed/belting voice i believe, that was the case back when Kpop vocal analysis first analysed them and made comments, its likely the same till this day. Everything else is subjective/incomparable, emotions, tone, ,style, stage presence etc. all that is opinion based not fact and in my opinion both of them have everything else by the absolute bucket loads.

idk about technicality and i won't pretend to, but ailee's voice is easier to listen to, and you can listen to her for longer periods of time. ssy is to the point sometimes where it's just like, "ok, we get it. holy sweet mother, my ears.". i like them both, but ailee's voice is definitely more palatable.
