*****READ THIS!!!***** I apologize for missing the last note. I made an error in editing when I was finishing up, and the audio wasn't lining up, so I had to cut that last note out. If I hadn't done that, then the entire last few minutes of the video would have been out of sync with the video/audio. I promise I will review her again soon, though! Thank you for watching. :)

Check out her "Rise up" performance. Also on WISH FM. it is good for you to analize. Or maybe her "Never enough".. But her best performance yet is her live performance at "ASIA SONG FESTIVAL 2017"...

Morissette Amon aka "Asia's Phoenix" from the Philippines (Lyric Soprano) is known for a vocal range that spans 5 octaves and 7 notes Currently she has 5.7 octaves and an extensive connected range, allowing her to transition into other registers smoothly. Capable of riffs and runs throughout the voice and holding notes without wavering, her skills suggests good breath control, having reverb, having "Growl" to show passion & inner emotions to the song, vocal fry, Melisma, Crescendos, Amazing Vibrato, Crisp Dynamics, Slide and Sustain, Modulation, Disconnect and overall technique. Known for her "squeaks" and intentional vocal breaks, applies them both when jumping between octaves for artistic effect . She can do BALLAD, POP, RAP, ROCK. She can SING & DANCE at the same time...!

i have seen a lot of Vocal coaches reacting and analyzing Morisette's Akin ka na lang performance . And i must say, YOURS WAS THE BEST. You really break it down and gave us great analysis. ive learned the difference between chest voice and head voice, the nasality being not a bad thing, info about the whistle register and vibrato and more. im so glad i came across your video. really learned a lot. The only LEGIT Vocal Coach in YT that really knows his craft. Thank you so much!!!

Same here, my favorite genre of music is heavy metal and its subgenre (mostly power, symphonic and progressive metal) but when I came across this girl about 7 months ago, I became addicted to her, she's way better than those popular American singers, Hey! Metalhead also has spot too.

New sub! Loved the in-depth analysis vs just a reaction. The more vocal coaches I watch doing analysis on the same videos the more I'm amazed at how different each vocal coach is with their approach to singing technique. Everybody's got the basics down pat though. Your analysis is so far the most technical in nature I've seen.

Her vocal “squeaks” definitely sounds like a hard yodel with a bit of larynx squeeze. Like a really quick musculature flip from chest to head back to chest during the note change. Her breaks sound on the extreme side though which makes me think that you’re larynx squeezing theory is at least partially correct.

Enjoyed your reaction and voice analysis Coach. Morissette is singing "Tagalog" , the national language of the Philippines (English is the 2nd language and medium of instruction). The word "LANG" is pronounced in Tagalog like the English word "LUNG". Hope you won't mind of a little bit of history...The Philippines was colonized by Spain and remained as a colony for 300 years (1565-1898) until 1898 when war broke out between the United States and Spain . When Spain was defeated, the United States acquired all its possessions in the Pacific, including the Philippines. Since then it became a colony of the United States until 1936 when a Commonwealth of the Philippines was establshed with approval by the United States. Full independence was granted to the Philippines in 1946. People of the Philippines have predominantly Spanish names, is the only Catholic country in Asia and some of our native words are in Spanish language or coined from it (courtesy of Spain). From the United States, the Philippines gained the English language, American form of government, school educational system, and almost anything American...Apologize for length of my comment...

Before Morissette, I never watch any of the reaction or analysis videos. So, early on, I watched practically all the reaction videos. It became obvious that many of the reactors are ... let's call it "too patronizing" that the only goal was to capitalize on her popularity. Some others tend to come across as authorities in music, and I do not mean that positively. Lately, I stopped watching most reactors. I do watch vocal coaches still - those who appear to be legit and whom I could actually learn. I'd say watching this video, YES, I learned a few things. Thus, I look forward to seeing your next analysis video. If I am to recommend another song sang by Morissette. It would be "Never Enough." In particular, the two videos of her covering this song that stood out are: 1. WISH BUS. The quality of the video is excellent. 2. Mother's Day concert in Laguna. Although the two available videos are fan cam, and the quality is sub par, I like this one better because it was performed in front of a live audience. WISH BUS performances are also live - it is a radio station literally on a bus - but nothing beats being in front of a crowd. Keep it up, Zach. I rarely leave comments, but you did a tremendous job on this video.

I'm loving all the improvements in your channel! I'd very much like if you'd consider analyzing some of my favorite rock singers someday. They're Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Country Communion), Ray Gillen (Badlands), and Tony Martin (Black Sabbath, or w/Dario Mollo). Anyway, until next time, keep up the good work :)

I'd love to see a reaction/analysis of Dimash, he's classically trained from an extremely young age and his main style is often called "popera." He's sung some incredibly difficult and emotional songs, in a bunch of languages, and the first one I'd recommend is live on a world-class singing competition in China called Singer; the first song he performed there as a basically unknown talent is "S.O.S. (d'un terrien en detresse)." The competition was eventually won by Jessie J but I believe he came in second.

I love Rock and I love Metal. I believe it was the Amy Lee analisis video the first one that I watched on this channel. But I enjoy very much music from all other genres, so I'm loving this new singers you are analizing. Also, I saw in one of your comments that Pop videos aren't that strict with the copyright issues as Metal ones, and because of that you can use complete videos instead of pieces of them, so that's one more thing to celebrate. Great video as always! Looking forward to the next one! See ya!

The language is Filipino. As for the Filipino vowel sounds, just like in the Spanish language, we only have a separate distinct sound for each of the vowels a, e, i, o, and u. Probably the same sounding as the italianate vowels you mentioned. And the spoken Filipino language characteristically has natural guttoral stop sounds on particular final vowel word endings, not found in many other languages. The presence or absence of the guttoral sound may change the meaning of the word. But in a song, if the guttoral sound is not employed, its not a big deal because the meaning is derived from the context. This explanation, addresses the few hard vocal stops that you keenly observed Morissette made, which you thought could be harsh on the vocal chord. We're used to it. Also, the fact that a lot of Filipino words feature the combination letters 'ng', at the start of the word (e.g., ngayon - now), within the word (e.g., langit - heaven), and at the end (e.g., lamang - only), probably explains the nasality of the language.
