Some good beatbox solo performances for singing analysis are: Show-Go - You’re Gone River - My Way Stitch - Feels Like Nothing Gene Shinozaki - Metamorphosis D-low - Sing a little Harmony There’s also a lot of beatbox group performances that are coming out recently, though it may be easier to see the different techniques through solo performances first.

Thanks so much for checking out Den! A lot of beatboxers recently have been incorporating a lot of singing into their routines and exploring extended techniques. Some stuff uses the false folds similar to certain kinds of throat singing and metal growls, and some sounds are inhaled which can produce different textures and allow him to take a breath without stopping the song. Some extended singing techniques used by beatboxers haven’t been studied and I’m not sure there’s definitive info on what they’re doing (but people have theories). Always love to see more attention brought to beatboxing techniques from the perspective of singing, hopefully with enough interest more research can be done!

@ryansmallwood1178 Жыл бұрын
@@mltdnmatthe I dunno if I’m doing that much (someone else is responsible for getting this specific video to happen), but I try to help build the hype when a new one comes across it. I think we might be hitting a tipping point where it appears on enough channels that more people start noticing and suggesting and it becomes part of the regular lineup for vocal coach channels. But the KZbin algorithm sometimes isolates people to stuff they’re familiar with, so we need to help nudge things along whichever ways we can until then.

Welcome to beatbox community! Your analysis is so amazing! Beatboxers can make sounds such as percussion, bass sounds and other uique sounds at their tongue, lip, throat and nose by breathing out and in. For example, the bass which sounds like vocal fly is called inward bass, the inward breathing technique. and also the bass sound by tightening and vibrating his lip is called lip oscillation bass, the outward breathing technique.
@JustinRed624 Жыл бұрын
Another thing to note is that den's inward bass has a very different texture from others so people often mistake it for fry.

"Moments I had" from Den is also mind boggling. The amount of sounds from nose, throat, mouth are ridiculous. There are lots of musicality beatboxers like him nowadays. Awesome reaction.
@lupito6185 Жыл бұрын
6:40 actually, it's not a vocal fry for as much as it sounds like that, it's a gutural inward vocalization, many in the beatbox world use it, but his use of it is particularly unique, since he can control the pitch of that sound so perfectly, and i believe nobody else does it like him, it's really amazing

6:52 that sound is called inward bass, he’s been doing it the whole time but when he opens his mouth it creates a different texture. Inward bass is a sound that sounds very different depending on who is using it.

6:43 ok so that’s not a fry. It’s called inward bass. Done by inhaling and, it’s being debated if that’s the false fold or the epiglottis running. Personally I think that may be the Epiglottis just for the sheer distance of its vibrations compared to your regular voice (Yes I can do that sound too so I’d know how it feels, a lot of people can too)

Yep, the secret to being able to seamlessly shift techniques is all in your ability to know when to apply tension and when to relax. We do the same in throat singing. You need to achieve particular tension and position but all the power in the technique is driven by breath pressure. It's kind of fascinating to hear how he uses the high overtone, maintaining the tongue position to achieve the overtone, which is very particular and still have enough dexterity to perform the rolls and the snares and the kicks and the fact he can do an inward roll while maintaining the position for the overtone just baffles my mind. Something fun I learned to do is use a subharmonic with a gollum voice and get a pretty great approximation of a robot voice. Learning throat singing and overtone singing has opened up so many ridiculous and fun things I would never have otherwise known I could do. Then you apply some of the deeply hilarious things you can do by also experimenting with metal vocals in there and it's just the most fun thing, in my opinion. There are so many beatboxers who are just absurdly unbelievable like Show-Go who is the master of what he calls the double voice and is just absurd. You also have D-Low, Adam Rupp, Hikakin and Daichi (who are hilarious together). kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpiYpX-LfMx9irs

So glad to see more vocalists learning about beatboxing! So many beatboxers embracing singing as a part of their art and find new and creative techniques to push the human body to its musical limits. I'd really love to see you react to some of the wildcard (tournament entry) videos for GBB23, the latest big tournament. Good examples for solo beatboxers would be Wing, Mr. Androide, or even DEN's wildcard. There's also Tag team, which is 2 beatboxers collaborating, and I'd suggest Jairo's "fuego" or Equilibrium's "Tincture" for that category. As well, there is a crew category, which is 3+ beatboxers in a group. For Crew I'd suggest checking out YA NA HA or Sakurani's wildcards.

There has been a lot of new sounds discovered in the past ten years in beatboxing. Some of the bass sounds he’s doing are done with his lips or his throat. The lip basses are called lip rolls, and the throat bass he’s doing is called inward bass which is done by breathing in a certain way or just normal throat bass by breathing out. He’s not able to do these sound’s because of his balanced voice as you put but just by practicing these techniques. There’s a lot of beatboxers who can do these sounds. I can do inward bass as well and have a short video on my channel. If you’d like to checkout some other amazing artist, check out Remix, King inertia, D-low, vocodah, zvd, heartzell, tomazcre, show go, napom. I could keep going but these guys are good

Beatboxer here! There are various throat techniques used in beatbox, such as the Vibration bass, Throat Bass, Inward bass, Chest Bass, etc... Of course there were other basses that are created with for example the lips or the tongue, but it's interesting to see a Vocal Coach react to these since those are not commonly used in singing (maybe the throat bass is used in a very light way in singers like Kurt Cobain). But I'd say there are Vocal Coaches what the throat/vocal chords are capable of.
