The only thing I can say is that you need to go down the Rival Sons rabbit hole, I think you will be quite surprised.

Every great rock song was sung through an 57 or 58 at one time or another. Great mic through the beers spilling, the smoke blown through, the fights used as brass knuckles. Best friend a singer ever had.

You picked one of their super mellow songs. They're an incredible mix of blues, folk and rock. So many different influences in their sound

Jay Buchanan is an amazing singer. I saw him sing many many years ago in a tiny little coffee shop in Fullerton, CA and I knew he was going to do something big one day. He did a great version of Fleetwood Mac's Landslide. Rival Sons is usually way more hard rock.

Yes! That was my recommendation! Thanks so much for covering this and glad you enjoyed it! You're right that they're usually heavy rock. Worth checking that stuff out. I actually opened up for them in my previous band in Soho London about 11 years ago...been a fan ever since! Thanks again dude!

I saw them opening for STP and Smashing Pumpkins last year, and was thoroughly impressed. The whole band sounded awesome, and the vocalist killed it.

Its a dobro guitar, a bit of Americana. Hey nice to hear your voice, it sounds great. Most commentarians talk about how someone's singing, but its great to *hear* your examples along with the song.😀

My friend, Sven, is a big fan of Rival Sons. We recently took a road trip to see Dirty Honey play a gig (Hot Damn!) in Solothurn, Switzerland and he brought along some Rival Sons CDs to listen to on the long drive there and back. Good stuff. EDIT: Dirty Honey would be a great subject for one of your "Reaction" videos.

You should check out "Where I've Been" by these guys. Every live performance is bomb and it's lyrically just awesome.

Hi. I appreciate your vocal insights. You should check out Dino Jelusick. I'm curios how he gets that nice Dio growl in his voice.always wondered how RJD did that with out damaging his voice. check out his cover of "Jane".

Great video, man! I'm a fan of rival sons for couple of years, and your explanations are awesome as well. Also u talk about that guitar so much, it's actually a resonator guitar. It's fully acoustic, no pickups, you can google more about it.

Agreed. There's a fine line between influence and copying. I'll forgive copying on the first album. By the second, they should progress into their own thing. I feel Greta Van Fleet did. Jet? not so much. This is "Open My Eyes" which is more along the lines of their usual style. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJnMpXimYp2BbNk Your German accent was fantastic! And you're right. Like Kaleo from Iceland. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p36nomd5fMiejZYsi=GtDiaZ6RjR0omr3Q

Huge Rival Sons fan since day 1 when they were a warm up to a warm up band. Jay Buchanan's pipes remind me of Paul Rodgers in his prime. You got lucky, this is my favorite vocal performance by Jay. You kept pausing it and breaking the flow, which is SOOOO important in THIS song. It's too pretty. I know, I should have ditched your video and just watched the original. Gave you a like anyway because you got it.🤘
