Vocal Coach Hears Teddy Swims For The First Time

I’m a 70 year old grandmother who discovered Jaten Dinsdale , a.k.a. Teddy Swims, a few years ago. The first song I heard him sing was the cover, “I can’t make you love me”. OMGoodness!!! Talk about a goosebump reaction! I’ve been a devoted follower/convert ever since. Last week my daughter treated me with tickets to his concert at the Choctaw Casino in Ok for my upcoming 71st birthday. We drove about 3 hours both ways to enjoy him. Concert was outstanding. Venue was small enough to feel like you’re a real part of the experience. I’m so happy to say that my daughter’s not rolling her eyes any more when I sing Teddy’s praises. She said she’d happily attend another Teddy concert.

Teddy Swims is from Conyers, GA. My son introduced me to his music. I asked how he knew him. He said he was always at the Celtic, singing for a few bucks. Teddy (Jaeten Dimsdale) had a great number of covers (Bill Withers, Luther Vandross, Lewis Capaldi) before he began recording his own music. Check out his cover of "I cant make you love me". Then "The Door" also from the same album as "Lose Control".

This was just recently a Billboard #1, but took time to climb the charts. Where did he come from? KZbin, but Atlanta too. :) He's done covers on youtube for a few years, gaining popularity and recently release his debut album after a couple EPs.

Hey! I was wondering if you could do a reaction/analysis of my and my wife's song Yıldızların Altında by Nesrin Sipahi. It's not in English, but it's wonderfully crafted. I was wondering if you could analyze the structure, phrasing, vocals, and anything that comes to mind or catches your ear :) I'm curious as an American myself, as not too many Americans really listen to Turkish music, but it would be a great surprise to her if a non-turk did a reaction to it 😅 As some background for the song, it's part if a genre of music from the early 60s-late 70s in Türkiye called Türk Sanat Müziği (Turkish art music). The original song (the oldest recorded song, though the origin may be older) is by an artist named Seyyan Hanım (literally, "Miss" or "Lady" Seyyan) in a style of music called Türk Tengo. It was a ballroom style spin of the Argentinian Tango genre and was the first popular music of Türkiye since the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of Türkiye as a Republic. Miss Seyyan was not only the first person to record this song, but also the first person to record this genre of music. Nesrin Sipahi's version is a well preserved cover that keeps the ballroom-tango theme and adapts to the period's "ebb and flow" of Turkish Art Music Edit: The content of the song, itself, is also unique. Usually, songs tell a story. This song paints a picture of the theme, atmosphere, mood, and emotions of a single moment. Like if you could write a song about a single, unchanging snippet of time.
