Handshake with hell, Ken. There Alyssa shows what she can do with her clean vocals. A wonderful song, that one.

I think the trick with Arch Enemy is that the melodies are in the guitars in unison with the harsh vocals. That makes it very melodic altogether. Alissa really can sing clean vocals. She did that a lot in her previous band The Agonist and actually on Arch Enemys new album. She do both styles on the song Handshake With Hell. Check it out, its amazing.

Absolutely. This is exactly what Arch Enemy is and has always been about, i.e. letting the guitar carry the melodies, with the vocals almost providing accompaniment, and obviously serving as a vehicle for the lyrics.

She did alot more growls early on joining to prove herself or prove to the fans they arent losing theyr edge. If feels like over compensating. I feel like Slipknot is a good example Corey doesn't need to prove he's a tough guy so on verse he goes with the smooth soft voice and do unplugged vocals. I might be wrong about Arch Enemy either way I love the band and Alyssa.

Arch Enemy is unique in the sense that the guitars are the most melodic in the song, not the vocals. People get confused but once you lock into the guitars for melody, and vocals more like a distorted instrument, then it all works.

Random video to comment on: I never thought anyone could replace Angela as lead singer for Arch Enemy, but Alyssa easily won me over with her first performances. She's an amazing vocalist. And yes she also has a good "clear" singing voice. It's worth hearing.

Ken, you should check out ‘Handshake with Hell’ and ‘Reason to Believe’ she displays her clean vocals along with her harsh vocals. From the melodic harmonies to screaming guitars. They are truly talented, they are just as tight live. She a a beautiful front woman and queen of metal 💙💙💙 I might also add ‘Nemesis’ from Wacken 2016! Love their power and energy!
