That nasal stuff was because of the language, to give, that’s ‘duun’ (for example) in Hindi, and the ‘un’ sustains…

Hindustani music has the nasal quality which we think is normal and frontal voice. It is beautiful. I know that western music discourages the nasal quality. We sit on the floor crossed leg to sing for hours. In the west you say that you can’t sing well if you sit, you have to stand. Differences from different part of the World.

The nasal quality you are talking about, is actually the certain words in the Hindi language, where it's the word that's nasal... For example in 8:10 time, the word is "banu", meaning become.. which is pronounced as "banoon"... The last "n" is the nasal texture of that word in itself, and thus he has to pronounce it as it is...

Arijit Singh does exhibit such emotion when he sings, the tone of his voice echoes heartbreak. Those are the type of songs I think he sings best. there is a version of "Bekhayali" by Sachet Tandon which is the version I prefer. Also a word of caution when watching the video, it can be visually disturbing.
