This is my first time listening to her, it’s not really my sort of thing at all but I’m not that narrow minded that I can’t appreciate an artist of her calibre. Her singing is technically very good and very pleasing to listen to, I don’t have a clue what she is singing about but sometimes this is good because you’re not focusing on the lyrics you focus on it musically instead; I’m glad I chose to do it this way, must listen to some she sings English! Great review and technical explanations! 💖💕💖

the context of this song is actually humorous. It talks about a girl in love with a boy but he seemingly has no feelings for her so she's telling herself to move on. It has funny phrases like "If I can easily lose a pen then I can lose my feelings for him". Or telling herself "why I have a hard time letting him go when he is not holding my hand in the first place" or "It's hard to go after a guy who runs so fast." 😆

Yes she is a Filipino and to be specific, she is a Cebuano because she was born in Cebu, Philippines. The language used in the song is her native language (Bisaya)

Hello beautiful Coach Nina! Thanks for this awesome reaction to Morissette singing "Pero Atik Ra". It is a nice song with a beautiful melody, just even made better by Mori singing it. The lyrics are in Cebuano or Visayan language. If I am not mistaken, it talks about a girl who says she will stop chasing a guy who doesn't reciprocate her feelings back, but she admits that "it's just a lie" or "I'm just kidding" (the translation of the song title itself) because she can't really stop from chasing him. 😊 Mori is a master of her craft, her vocal instrument, and the way she delivers is always outstanding, amazing story-telling using dynamics and build-up, and adding her squeaks, growls, riffs and runs at the right places without overdoing them. It's heartwarming to know that she inspires other singers like you to also become better, just as she also doesn't sit on her laurels but keeps on improving herself and her talent. 💖 Please react to her latest single "Undangon Ta Ni" visualizer/music video. I have no favorits I love every song Mori sings, she makes every song her ohne, listend to a Club singer last night singing NEVER ENOUGH, she tryed but I'm used to Mori's beautiful voice on 107.5bus and on stage Performance, Mori can turn the vibrato on and off then her runs and belts, SHE IS THE MOST COMPLETT SINGER OUT THERE, even Katrin just does not have that something speziell that Mori gives me everytime, but she is close, I love powerfull Singers that can sing so soft with emotion, Mori is very hard to discribe, you love her or you LOVE her, theres not much less.

I think it's absurd as well. Her agility is constantly praised by vocal coaches, and her riffs and runs are constantly praised as being tasteful and blending seamlessly with the rest of the music. I think some people confuse that with "poor agility," for reasons beyond me.

Not all Filipinos can't understand this because this is written in Morissette's mother tongue which is Bisaya. There are like 170+ dialects here by the way. Nonetheless, this song is still amazing. I love the message of the song upon checking what it is all about. ❤️

I went back to listen to the Jacky Chang version of this on the WishBus, and was pleasantly surprised at how good she is. Then I compared the two back to back and realized again why I call Morissette the Secretariat of singers. Jacky was like Sham, the horse that would have won the Triple Crown that year if he hadn't been up against the best race horse of the century. I've never heard a better singer than Morissette in my 76 years.

That observation of the fog machine was hilarious. I always hated those. They make my voice feel like there's this thin layer of chalk that just deposits on all my vocal cords and it's so weird, it just I don't know I don't like it. And I most hilarious thing is in this one, yeah it's nearly engulfing the drummer, laugh. But in my band, all of us hated it except for our drummer! And we wouldn't do it all the time but every once in awhile we would have a certain show where he would insist on it and he'd get the dry ice and everything and set it all up and yeah he got the worst of it but he was the one that always wanted to do it!

Hi Nina, will you also react to Mori's newest original single "Undangon Ta Ni"? About over a week ago Mori released a visualizer/lyric video version of that brand new song. The song is in English and Cebuano/Bisaya languages. The title simply means Let's end this or let's stop this. According to Mori, it's a collaboration song and mainly written by musicians/song writers from her birthplace and home town of Cebu, PH. YT's CC function would show the correct English translation of the Cebuano parts of the song.
