Here is some information to help you navigate their music. It is my standard speech...... :-) I subbed............. Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now still is. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just saw her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. Lol

Her name is Floor Jansen "The flying Dutchwoman" she is tall at 6'1 tallest in the band. She sings operatic, rock, classic, in Spanish, growls, everything, she is the most versatile singer in the world today, and one of the most humble and gracious. She joined Nightwish in 2012 in the middle of their USA tour when they fired their singer Anette Olson in Salt Lake City, and called Floor, who was at her sister's wedding, and they asked her "Learn out setlist in 48 hours" and she mmet them 48 hours later in Seattle for her first show. This show is 10 months later and she still had not been asked to become a permanent member yet, that change after this performance she was asked and her answer was a resounding "YES

As someone who has been in an orchestral band when I was in HS, when you hear musical notes, you can anticipate where the next ones are going based on context. Love nightwish! If you really want to hear the best vocal range for Floor try to give Poet and the Pendulum at Wembly a listen. You need to know a bit before you go into that one though. Poet and the pendulum was written by (as were all of the songs actually) by Toumas, the keyboardist when they parted with their first lead singer Tarja (Floor is the third and current singer). There was a lot of backlash towards him on the decision to the point where he contemplated suicide, so he decided to write a song where he killed himself instead. The song talks about his inner struggles on the whole ordeal, and the last bit of the song is what his mother told him, that i feel made him continue on to this day. The music is called symphonic metal and i very populair in Europe and South America. The band is from Finland and founded 1996. So far the band has had 3 vocalists 1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005) 2 Anette Olzon (Schwedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012) 3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current). * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of. Band members Tuomas Holopainen (The keyboard player and creative mind behind the band. He writes about 95% of the music and lyrics) Marco Hietela (the viking with the long beard (Bass and vocals) Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen (The drummer) Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (the hobbit like guitar player) Troy Donockley ( a person who did not play on this song but is a multi instrumentalist from the UK) The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the worldtour a lot of what happened was recorded. The documentary is called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJmoqZ6jjLCAe7c ) As a next song to take a look at i would recommend their masterpiece "The poet and the pendulum" live at Wembley. Before you take a look at it i would recommend to take a look at the backstory of this song. This will make you appreciate it much more. here is the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZPRanqZr751odk BTW that last note she just sang? Nightwish fans created a whole new word for when she does something impressive like that. We call it a Floorgasm. He's been able to skilfully write songs for all three of their singers, to fit their different voices. And Floor can sing most things, she does the older material very well. The second was Anette, who's a good vocalist, but at that time, at least, really struggled live because of all the drama. There's a live version of Slow, Love, Slow where she did alright. If you listen to that or the official vid to Bye,Bye, Beautiful after Tarja's stuff, you'll see why fans were livid. I feel hearing the other singers helps you see Tuomas's mindset and really drives home the emotion. Don't forget to do some songs with Troy and Marco :) Glad you enjoyed

XD Watching that floorgasm hit for the first time never gets old! That Amazonian goddess is named Floor Jansen, my friend, and she stands 6'4" - she is the most recent singer for Nightwish! If you loved this, you HAVE to check out The Poet and the Pendulum if you haven't already, if you have, check out Romanticide - that one will flatten you! Welcome to the Nightwish Army and you've got a new subscriber!

One of the joys of Nightwish is the variation of styles they perform from the heavier songs to folky, operatic and rock but one of the constants is the Tuomas' excellent compositions. The more you check them out the more your will find to enjoy for sure.

I love Floor Jansen and I love Nightwish. This concert was 6 years ago and I saw them 3 times since then. You have to listen a more recent concert of them. Floor has improved her mastering of songs written previously for Tarja, and it is now better (even if you think it is not possible, it is). And their new songs are really great too. I can't wait their next album !!

Yes, she is indeed very tall. She’s the tallest person on that stage by a fair margin. XD. Floor Jansen is arguable the best singer in the business right now, a true power house and incredibly versatile. This is a great song, but it only covers about 15% of what she’s capable of. Anything live from her is worth a listen, but the typical follow ups to this song are either Romanticide, Song of Myself, Ever Dream, or Storytime. Stick with the Live from Wacken 2013 for now, but the recordings from Wembley 2015 and Tampere 2016 are also phenomenal.
@monksuu5 жыл бұрын
Actually, she wasn't the tallest person on that stage. Marco is 180 cm, Floor 183 cm and Tuomas 188 cm. But, maybe with her heels. Depending if Tuomas had thick bottom shoes... :D

You may well find this interesting. She is currently on a Dutch TV show called Beste Sangers (Best Singers) where they gather a group of singers .. all Dutch .. and they then take turns and everyone sings a song that is either by or important to one of the singers each week. She has so far sang in German, Dutch and Spanish kzbin.info/www/bejne/opSveGiOZs5lh68 .. sings a kinda Operatic Rock for the Older gentleman (he sings opera) .. is song his mother sang to him as a child (in German) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZuUmpWQp8-EitU .. sings in Dutch to the woman in Red (her song) .. on another page someone commented that she has a Southern Dutch accent kzbin.info/www/bejne/epe8ln-LpNaqZqc .. sings in Spanish to the guy in White and gray .. his song

You may be interested to know that this was sung 90-minutes into a 2-hour set. Also there were 82,000 people at that concert. Nightwish's other vocalist is their bassist, Marco Heitala. His rendition of "High Hopes" [live from the End of an Era concert] is also amazing. Thanks for your reaction.

This song needed multiple stages to realy grow up into this sort of perfection. This was by the way her first time singing this Song in Wacken Open Air (North Germany) in 2013. The Symphonic Parts are done by the London Symphonic Orchestra.
