ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.
Subscribe to Rebecca Vocal Athlete to get inspired by new videos!
Have a great day!!
Rebecca

Rebecca, if you were to say if he was about to crack and cry while singing, well yes, he was, you can hear all those little pitch issues because he's singing while almost crying. And actually he cries after the "she runs" part, if you pay atention you can not only see him wiping his face, but also after "whatever makes you happy, whatever you want, you sou fu**ing special" right there, while finishing the word "special" you can see a tear dropping from his face. I always cry with him in that part, I can feel the crack in his soul!

Thom hated performing the song because it related to a past experience he never wanted to revisit. Long story short, he was obsessively in love with a girl in his school. So much so, he followed her around and stalked her. And that was the back story to this song. It was a feeling that he didn't have anymore. Its not that thom doesn't like his own song or hates how popular it is, he just doesn't like the meaning behind the words as it only drags him back to that dark time.

Along with the lyrics that so perfectly express despair over a love never realized, what makes this song great is how dispirited Thom is for the verses, then kicks into intensity for the chorus, especially that incredible second chorus, when he is literally wailing his despair. The juxtaposition of the downbeat and the anguish is what makes this song so wonderful and relatable, regardless of how he now doesn't like his own song.

translates singing, true despair, interprets the sentiment of those who suffer for love in a sincere and masterful way. It can only touch the soul of anyone and destabilize even the least emotional, the power of this song the skill of the performer. Masterpeace

What a great way to discover it with your amazing analysis! It shows all the energy that can be transmitted to the crowd without having to move! Singing is so powerful when done the proper way! Nice post, Rebecca! Best Regards from your friend François in Montreal, Canada! 🎼🃏🎶🎵🙏👍👍👍👌👌👌👏👏👏💛😁👋

I LOVE this song.... It's SO different from other songs... It tells you a story in which can be interpreted in a few different ways.. It can be about a psychopath who kidnaps a girl who gets away.... OR The boy is in love with a girl he feels he's not good enough for...... What does anyone else think??? .
