It's her first big song before this song even no one knows her. While on the other hand rahat Fateh Ali Khan is experienced singer who has doctorate in music from Oxford and he is student of his uncle Nusrat Ali Khan A music teacher in Texas, famous all over the world. It's not about gender discrimination but professionalism Yeah but she has a great voice too.

Mubashir Murtaza 😮 I wasn’t alluding to gender discrimination in the slightest.😮 All I was trying to convey was my impression that she slips in and out of the song before I’d heard enough. It was like she did an intro then left; it felt unfinished, The video indicates that her part as additional lyrics, so that could explain why it’s so brief.

I was quite impressed when you described the lady's part as having " some kind of angelic purity about her voice"; that is exactly what the term afreen means. The song is basically describing the beauty of a woman using similes and metaphors and then the lady's part is staying afreen... angelic purity. I get that sense throughout the song being able yo understand the language but it's quite nice that you pick that up just from her voice. Credits you and a lot to her for being able to portray that.

The end part of the song where he goes really aggressive, it's a part of Indian classical music called SARGAM, it's musical syllables SA RE GA MA PA DHA NI, the equivalents of DO RE MA FI SO in Western music. Indian music emphasises on singers improvising during a song and within a given song they can improvise and use the notes in whatever permutation and combination they want. The original singer and composer of this song USTAD NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN, the uncle and Teacher of Rahat is a real king of this genre of music. Do react to him as well.

Equal Pride and joy when someone outside our culture recognizes and loves Pakistani talent!! Lots of Love from India !! Evergreen song Sublime Urdu Lyrics Beautifully and powerfully sung by Rahat Sahab..carrying the TORCH from LEGENDARY LATE NUSRAT Sahab ... The wonderful music arrangement, the backing vocals, instruments and Of course Momina(Afreen Afreen)

The bit at the end is playing around with the musical equivalent of Do Re Mi-Sa Re Ga Ma...the technical term is "Lehkaari". Which brings me to Rahat's Uncle, NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN!!!The greatest voice to hit the microphone ever (Saying this as humbly as possible). His Lehkaari will transport you to another dimension!

Liked your incisive comments on the singing... for a person unfamiliar with this genre of music and the format of Coke Studio, you were pretty much spot on with most of your remarks! Thanks for an enjoyable 12 minutes!

Yes Sir whatever he did at the end was also part of the original song. The original one was sung by his Uncle Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He was also an iconic vocalist and his coach also.

Very nice reaction as well as the review. If you like, you could turn the captions on for the Coke Studio presentations. The folks at Coke Studio do an excellent job of putting the subtitles in Urdu, Roman Urdu, and English.

Actually the end of the song carries the vibe of the original song, the “cover” part about it is the rest of the song which is made softer and more approachable for wider audience. They made it more beautiful and difficult from more technical and difficult as it was originally.
