@@ignatiuschua5268 I use to do small courses with different vocal coaches to upgrade new techniques, 5 lessons for someone like her are more than enough!! I am not sure how many lessons she takes but I sow an interview where she told the exercises she use to do with Seth Riggs.

I am a 74 year old man who has listened to So Hyang's "Everyone" at least 100 times - and I'm not ashamed to admit that I cry during and after each one. Her talent is hypnotic and mesmerizing. As with all of her other performances, it doesn't matter if you don't understand the lyrics. Somehow, you still know them through her emotions. Please don't apologize for crying - I think that's the only sane and human reaction. She is a giant!

I'm Korean. It is a blessing to live in the same era and listen to her songs. Sohyang is compared to her singing ability not much known Sohyang is a Christian, very sincere, polite, and simple. So her singing style is natural. She is not chasing her own popularity alone, but is aiming to become an ordinary singer who likes her own songs. My personal opinion is that I often appear on TV. I am a Korean man currently living in Korea. I don't know how to sing but I like listening to songs. For long I have been a big fan of Sohyang as well. I always thought there was something special about her singing. I like the way you technically point out her difference in singing. And you asked a question whether or not she had lived abroad like in America or Europe. I have seen her once appear on TV show talking about her English pronunciation when she was asked how come her English pronunciation was so perfect when singing. She said she had travelled overseas a lot but never lived abroad in any English speaking country. But she said she naturally picked up her English pronunciation because in her younger days she spent the most of her days singing English songs and memorizing the lyrics. That's how she was able to sing English songs with perfect English pronunciation. But I don't know whether or not she is also good at speaking English.

She has never lived in Europe nor in English speaking countries. She is a 100 percent pure Korean who spent her whole life only in Korea, yet her intonation+pronunciation is quite clear just by her own effort. I once read from an interview that she was obsessed with Mariah Carey as a child and listened to her music over and over again. She learned English by dubbing her actual speech in English, and reviewing it to make it closer to perfect. She is such an inspiration.

Thank you for your tears....i always say in my comments to others, forget the belts, forget the techniques, forget those insane arrangements...Sohyang is pure heart, all we need to do is listen...there are people saying that she sings with no emotions at all, but i beg to disagree! Anyway, yes she sings like an african-american woman in a church...something like "black-gospel". The only time she went to Europe was when she performed during the closing ceremony of the 2017 Aqualympics in Hungary...she sang Arirang Alone there in a little different way. I always love your reaction...i guess we didn't fail you with Everyone.

Lucia Sinatra very notable with Sohyang is the clarity of each note in all her performances, its like you can rewrite at least 99% of the notes in a music sheet just by listening to her...second is her breath control, there are many performances that she hold a single note or even riffs and runs and melismas for not less than 10 seconds, her vocal stamina is likewise unbelievable, fine example is this song, Everyone, an almost 7 minutes of belts in the 5th octave...and her transitions from chest to mix to head or the other way around was impeccable! As a natural lyric soprano, her domain is the 5th octave, but seldom do i see a singer hitting a Bb5 with a balance mix..her C6, C#6, D6 are head voice that are well-supported, and her placements are just unbelievable. Can't find the video that she hit an A6 with a mix...she was vocalizing there...proper placing of vibratos is superb and the resonance is equally notable...she mastered all these techniques by herself with tips coming from Seth Riggs, Michael Jackson's (RIP) coach. But the emotions she is giving is probably the best i've ever heard...pls correct me if i'm wrong. Have a beautiful day.

Actually "everyone" is a southern gospel song which has had some Korean words replacing English words. There is a huge Christian influence in Korea from Southern Baptist, etc Churches. They are now making their own versions of songs as has happened all over the world and making their own which are actually being translated BACK into English. Couple in Swahili as well. =)

I'm sorry I should say that " everyone " isn't a gospel song in Korea. (I'm a Korean Christian.) Also, I'd like to say the original singer of this song, Yoon Bockhee, is a Christian and she said her confession of faith was in "everyone". Her brother, Yoon Hanggee, composed the song for her. And they won the 3rd Seoul international song festival in 1979 with this song.

This song was originally sung by Bok-Hee Yoon, and it was based on her meeting with God (according to what she said in the video:kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKawkoVqZrWBns0). Korean version and the English version are a bit different, though. In Korean, the lyrics read, "When I am alone, who will comfort me? It's you (in Korean translation, it says "Everyone")." There is no English version for this but according to Yoon, "Who will comfort you? The Only Son of God."

I totally agree with the comment about the taste of her riffs. If you listen to a great singer a lot, you usually start to get a sense for what their ad-libs sound like. Most find a number of complicated riffs to master and use as fill. Sohyang doesn't usually do the most complicated riffs, but they always have musical meaning, and are relevant in tone to the song. As a musician, that's a big treat for me.

Sohyang, who is a devout Christian CCM singer, always leads me to the Bible and I think this is what she ultimately wishes. Thank you for your honest reaction. It's a song of comfort. SoHyang's masterful performance could only produce emotional response. I don't think she lived in Europe but did major in French. Though she's pretty proficient in English, she is not completely fluent. She learned English watching American dramas.

I added other person's comment about her career. she started to learn singing at the age 19 years old. before that age , she was just a normal person who just likes to sing. married early 20's and gave a birth and knew had uterine cancer, cured and her husband family members are all christian and mainly sang in church ( CCM singer). now because of Pneumonia , her healthy got weak and stopped activity. below is another subscriber comment not mine. Kim So-hyang (born April 5, 1978), credited as Sohyang, is a South Korean singer. She made debut in 1996 with the song "MR", which was released on Naver Music. Despite having a long career in South Korea, she was only able to make her international breakthrough in 2014, when she became the first Korean artist to sing the American national anthem at a NBA game. Sohyang also achieved fame when she sang with Michael Bolton & Kirk Franklin. Her has participated many times on television music competition programs Immortal Songs 2 and I Am a Singer, and the last King of Masked Singer (2017) and the more amazing performance on 2018 - 2019. winning twice on Immortal Songs 2 with songs "Lean on Me" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water". I love your reaction. To be open and show your emotions is (in my opinion) a sign of strengh and not of fragility, cause you're not afraid to show yourself as you're. yeh that is a pretty amazing performance by So Hyang. She sings this with her soul, because she believes every word of it with her own life. She has had her own tragedies when a young woman, but became blessed in other ways. And I think she now believes she is singing on borrowed time, having mentioned health issues in recent times, but then again she always has a lot of self doubt.
