If you are a vocal coach, singer, musician, or pretty much just a person... you are going to want to check more Angelina Jordan. This young lady has done so much incredible work over the last 7 years. I have heard a lot of singers in my many years, and I have never heard anyone like Angelina. She is able to put so much soul into a song with seemingly zero effort. You will not run out of stuff to analyze with this one... 128 different songs, in every genre from old classic jazz to modern techno pop (you are the first to ever mention indie-pop, but I guess you could throw that in there too). She does a lot of different vocal styles. If you want to hear something a little less "soft", check out these: "I Put a Spell on You" (at 9): kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKipnaJ5hb2tedU "It's a Mans World" (at 12): kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnbQaKd9p898gc0 "I Have Nothing" (at 13): kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4XGp6mFa6dmf9E

Earned a subscibe for your relevant points and the way you presented them while not ruining the performance. I have not really been into the whole reaction video thing and after seeing one done properly I know what the others should be doing differently. Its also more beleivable hearing a reaction from a person that clearly is what they claim to be. Im no vocalist but have been a musician for decades so it is pretty easy to spot the fake it til they make it types. The fact that you disect the performance so fully yet dont allow any of the transitions be skipped over is also a huge thing I have disliked from others reaction videos. Great Video!

What you’ll see if you watch other performances by Angelina is that she makes every song her own, but still respects the original. She is spectacularly good, and her voice is rich and pure. She is not limited in style, but she’s leaning more to jazz as she gets older. She hypnotizes the audiences into silence with her style. If you watch more, you will be amazed at how good she has been for so long, even though Angelina is very young. She commits totally to her performances. Thank you for a good analysis.

Angelina a is such a beautiful old soul, inside the body of a beautiful young lady 💗 If it's possible, my eyelashes get goosebumps, whenever I hear this young girl sing 💕 She sews her own clothes, is instrumental in the arrangements of the cover songs she sings, & has a huge heart, going barefoot in remembrance of the girl she met once, who couldn't afford shoes, & she gave her the shoes she had on!! What can I say, except **WOW** 💕 Side note: A lot of people say how much she sounds like Amy Winehouse, Billie Holiday, & Nora Jones, & she does, however, for me, I get a beautiful renaissance feeling of the late great, Bessie Smith 💕💕💕 GREAT REACTION 🤗

Angelina is a gem, beautiful both inside and outside. She mostly is a jazz vocalist, but she can sing almost anything, and changes her singing technique to fit the songs. She does the arrangements herself and was a true professional from early on. She never gets booring, she will always surprise you, in a positive way.

Your reaction was outstanding! In the sense that 1) you know your stuff; 2) when you paused to comment, you went back and repeated that part of the song; 3) you gave very good pointers. It really bothers me when reactors either speak on top of the singer, pause and then continues from there or haven't even heard this ICONIC song before!!! (were they living under a stone!!!) She is a class act, she has the vocal ability but also she makes intelligent musical choices. And let me tell you, this performance only scratched the surface of what she can do ;)

Winning the AGT circus - has not necessarily much with talent to do. Angelina is much bigger than AGT. She don't need them at all. She had 1.3 billion views on internet. She was already an international star. It was USA that was lagging behind. But with USA as the largest singel music marked - isn't it bad with some exposure there also. Which she has got now. When it comes to Angelina .... well, you have heard nothing yet. Despite her young age she has the most versatile voice of any singer. This is the girl with the thousand voices. She had done the rearrangement of the music that you just heard. She always do things her own way. She writes her own songs. She is simply a musical genius and a true artist. So when you come with your toolbox of technics - be aware of that you are measuring up a master - a Picasso - who paints with her voice. She convey the emotions through the music like no one else. So your standard measurements does not fit with her. I agree with you that there are some slight influences of eastern music. But it has nothing with Indian pop to do. This is from old cultural influences from the middel East. Specifically Persia. Her grandmother - who is also an artist - is from Iran. Be also aware of that English is not her native language. Rather a third language that she has had to learn. So if you choose to bite into Angelina's music you will have something to chew on for a long time. Bon appetit.

I also wonder if there might be bits of Japanese influence in the way Angelina pronounces words. Her mother and uncle lived in Japan for 11 years, & their father is Japanese. They often speak the language in her presence. Anyway, that is what I've read.. When she performed in Japan, she sang a well-known song in Japanese.
@xpost9381
@xpost9381 4 жыл бұрын
@@karolyn8644 Yeah, you might very well be right in that. So the chance for some Japanese influence is obvious. But I can't identify anything - mostly I guess - because I don't know Japanese culture / language / music / song tradition. So I don't have much references. But when it comes to influence from the Middel East I mean to identify such. They add a lot of ornamentation / changes in voice levels to their way of singing. Two examples of such elements beeing used are in Angelina's own song "Oslo" and the other is in "California dreamin' ". 0n top of that one can add that Angelina has grown up in Norway with it's own set of culture/language/song traditions. What is for sure is that her multi cultural background makes her unique.

I love first time reactors to Angelina, particularly vocal coaches, who refer to her tone as if she only has the one - or similarly to her technique. Pretty soon they discover she has a style for every song and is already probably as technically proficient as anyone they have taught. One was even magnanimous enough to admit she, a teacher, could not do even now what Angelina was doing at 12 years old. For me, by far her best quality is her ability to move me. There are songs I've merely heard before that I've FELT for the first time when she sings them. I briefly imagined it might be her anguished expression and tortured gestures, so I converted them to audio files but the feeling was the same. We assume jazz singers of old have been through some bad stuff and are able to draw on their pain to give convincing performances. Angelina has destroyed that illusion, since her worst experience was quite possibly the disappointment of meeting the "legend" of her childhood Simon Cowell.

Angelina has always had an exceptional sense of timing. Have a look at her iconic performance of 'I put a spell on you' (black & white version) which will convince you she is a true prodigy. Rumor is, she'll be dropping a new album soon, so watch out for that. In general I'd suggest you insert clips that illustrate techniques you mention. That should engage some of the viewers with short attention spans who are complaining.

AGT - The Champions was a good way for Angelina to become known in America and it has worked, whether she wins the competition or not. Although you are right, most of her songs are soft and jazzy, try It's A Man's World (age 12) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5a4f5KjidWfZ6s and I Have Nothing (age 13) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bH-tp2NopNlooMk Angelina has about 130 wonderful unique songs recorded on KZbin from age 6 to her present 14 years of age. By following that progression, you see that she started out with a wondrous talent and has steadily progressed to a seasoned and mature singer among the best in the world for any age. Many of her covers are better than the original. She has perfect pitch, a range of about 5 octaves, a unique, identifiable Angelina voice, chooses different voices to match each song, changes each song to "make it her own," plays the piano, guitar, violin and flute, and many other attributes. By now she has performed 5 original songs, three of which she wrote. The last two could be commercial successes if she chooses to go that route. She has her own independent production company, Angelina Jordon Inc. We think that once AGT is over, she will release an album of original songs. She is ready to be known universally. And is still a young teenager.

There isnt much similarities in the singing between Marcelito P and Angelina J. She makes every song her own in a very artistic way. He doesnt change a thing so he kinda sings karaoke but with a gimmic. I dont have much respect for that kind of circus act tbh. If he wants to be seen as a serious singer he needs to skip the duett nonsense. He can show case his range in more artistic ways by individuality and dynamics .

Angelina has a very strong jazz influence, I love her vocal fry which she did not do much in this song, her main influences were Billy Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse. Rusty Shackleford was right with "I Put a Spell on you" it will knock you out of your chair, Also "It's a Mans World" was great however I don't think "I Have Nothing" is her best song, it is good but not special like her jazz. I live in the Philippines part of the year and those pop diva songs are made for Filipino singers, they are really good on them. The difference with Filipino singers is they all have very pretty voices, which is not perfect for jazz. For jazz, there needs to be more texture in the voice, could be raspy or vocal fry or grit, but there needs to be more than a pretty voice. Would love for you to look at her "I Put a Spell on You" when she was 9.

In my opinion this was not an audition this was Angelina's coming out mini concert to the rest of the world that has not had the honor to witness her vocal artistry. She owns the stage the minute she steps on it. The bare footed princess of song has entered the building... Angelina's opening phrase just mesmerizers and masterfully commands everyone's full silence and awe of her vocal artistry. She has fulfilled her stated dream when she 6 years old of becoming a super star , however, she has now gone way beyond that and has now become a Jazz singing living legend barely starting her teenage years of life. She does not need to win this variety circus act show (this was fulfilling a dream of hers when she was 3 years old to sing for Simon) , she only needed the American audience exposure, her videos on line already has over 400 million views prior to this appearance on AGT. This performance received over 10 million hits the first week then AGT conglomerates had the video from another source taken down, and they themselves never posted her performance as the did with everybody else. Do you think a vocal coach knows anything about singing. In this instance. I'm sure a vocal coach would've done nothing for this wee star...in fact..it would have adulterised her natural talent. You'd have taught her what? Nothing... absolutely nothing...

Peter Pritzl If you just want to listen to her performance, then just to listen to the performance, this is a reaction video, if you don’t want to hear what he has to say, then just don’t listen to reaction videos!
