By the time I heard Brad Delp sing for the first time, I was a classically trained pianist. And it irritated me how it seemed that none of my peers heard the technical and musical perfection in Delp’s voice the way I did. To listen to your unscripted reaction to hearing Delp for the first time, literally brought tears to my eyes. It validates to me that I wasn’t overthinking or overstating my reaction to Delp’s talent! 💕💕

Unfortunately, it probably was because your peers didn't want to admit how good he was-they were classical music snobs and didn't want to "stoop to his level." I'll bet deep down they really knew the truth but didn't want to admit how good he really was! ❤Good for you for being objective!

THe late great Brad Delp, one of the most outstanding singers of the 70's & 80's. Listen to the studio recording now - painstakingly engineered by the band leader/lead guitarist, Tom Scholz. In his basement. Not kidding. Tom played almost all the instruments on the first album. If he didn't have the right piece of equipment, he built one from scratch. Unfortunately Brad took his own life after battling depression. Rest in peace, sir.

@BethRoars- Love all your stuff- The second channel too! Curling was fun, fencing, and bungee jumping! Would you please share your thoughts if you've listened to their (Boston's) 1st Album? It would be great to more of your take on their music and your thoughts? Best regards, M-

Wonder if the reviewer actually realizes what Boston actually accomplished on the "harmonies" absolutely with NO computers or synthesizers. Given the tech of today's music industry, often their creative talent are taken for granted. This music was created in the 70's, being critiqued by people in 2024...54 years later. Not knocking her at all. Just the opposite. If she appreciates Boston's music, good on her. Keep this music alive as it was real.

As mentioned, Brad sang all the vocal parts on all their studio recordings with a few exceptions. I was lucky enough to meet Brad backstage after a concert. "A Man I'll Never Be" from this same album "Don't Look Back" is one of my favorite songs ever. It has to be said that the rushed studio production of the "Don't Look Back" album, and not on Tom's basement gear, did not produce the incredibly rich sound of the first album - it sounds like it was transmitted over a lower bandwidth medium losing a lot of the low end and the rich clarity of the engineering and recording of the first album. In other words, if you liked "Don't Look Back" you'll be blown away by their first album, "Boston". "More Than A Feeling" is their most-popular song and it is amazing. I'd like to suggest something unusual: React to Rick Beato's breakdown of that song which includes islolated tracks( kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5-pf6dqqcx1gJI ). You will be both amazed at Brad's vocals, but also see how the multiple vocal tracks were mixed together to form the great sounds you hear. Other isolated tracks reviews are also out there as well as the track files. As for other Boston songs, I agree that the whole debut album is great, but you can't do them all at once so here's my order: "More Than A Feeling", "Foreplay/Long Time", "Hitch A Ride"( kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6OtYaukjduSf7M ), "Peace Of Mind", "Something About You", "Rock & Roll Band", "Smokin'", and "Let Me Take You Home Tonight". You won't find a good live recording of Boston probably due to Tom's attitude of trying to keep the live performances for the live audiences after that horrible Giants Stadium experience.
