Cássia was a master of her craft. She could sing pretty much ANYTHING and her confidence was unparalleled in the world of Brazilian music. She would sing old school samba and Nirvana in the same gig. This album is her MTV Unplugged, and the setlist features Edith Piaf, Beatles, and several Brazilian songwriters. Unfortunately she died the same year it was released (2001).

Very nice translation, kudos. Love the idea of translating "malandragem" as trickery... it's a hard word to translate properly, but here I think that it conveys exactly what it needs to. 👍 However, there are a few small things I'd change, just for clarity's sake: - "Who's always hitting my nuts" (Que vive dando no meu saco) 🡆 "Who's always hitting _me in the nuts_ ". - "I only ask God / A little trickery" (Só peço a Deus / Um pouco de malandragem) 🡆 "I only ask God / _For_ a little _bit of_ trickery" . - "I'm a poet and I didn't learn to love" (Eu sou um poeta e não aprendi a amar) 🡆 "I'm a poet and didn't learn _how_ to love" . - "Silly is not living the reality" (Bobeira é não viver a realidade) 🡆 "Silly is not living reality". - "I change a plant from its place" (Mudo uma planta de lugar) 🡆 "I _move_ a plant from its _current_ place". - "I take my booze" (Tomo meu pileque) 🡆 "I _get plastered / smashed / buzzed_ ", the choice of verb depending on how far you want to convey the "pileque" went. 😁

@@ems3599 acho q não, ao contrário, reforçaria a expressividade da voz no significado das palavras. Neste caso, ela perceberia muito mais a ironia, inocência, melancolia e por que não - malandragem da Cássia

It was a beautiful and exciting analysis. It's beautiful to see a foreign voice professional , in this case a Scotswoman, analyzing with such propriety and affection one of our most beloved singers. It's shocking to think that she's been gone for 20 years. Rest in peace, Cassia. We miss you so much.

muito bom !!! ◙◙◙ this is a real reaction !!!

A voz, o tom, a energia... o Chico herdou sua mamãe todinha.

I am always amazed at how much we can relate to music even if you don't really understand the language. You can really see Beth feel precisely what all Brazilians feel when we listen to this song. Even the tone. She not far off at all when she says she feels it's something "wicked". Loved this!

One of the best videos I’ve seen in 2020 so far, it reminds that Brazil has so much energy and power. It may not be so modest to say, but Brazil doesn’t need a lot of foreign eyes (and I mean crowds) of people to judge us. I loved your video, Beth! Awesome work.

Shes from my home town and I had classes with the same grammar teacher that gave her classes. Once we asked about her and he described her as a very quiet, almost shy girl who was always with her acoustic guitar everywhere she went ❤

U r so eloquent and such great perceptive person. Cássia Eller was a great singer in Brazil and her legacy still rocks on the radio station. The lyrics were always well made and everybody who knew her told she was friendly and kind. It was so cool to see your reaction. Kisses from Brazil.

As a Brazilian and a big fan of rock / metal, I can say that Cássia Eller was a fantastic artist, it's sad she to have died so early, the Brazilian song lost in culture a lot when she died.

Oh, Beth, I love it How you are always talking about brazilian artists. There are many excellent singers throughtout the World, but It is amazing when someone abroad gives visibility to what Brazil has in its best: art, music, culture. Thank you! Cassia was amazing. You should check out her son, Chicão. He has similar voice Power and is very autentic.
