Dan's a Christian, Methodist. His Mother was an Opera Singer & they sang together in the Church Choir. His Dad was a Musician who Loved Elvis. Dan's Best Friend was his Dad. He passed away from Cancer 6-7 years ago. Dan went into a 2 Year Deep Depression. This song shows the emotion of God's Grace bringing him back to life. You should hear his American Trilogy. He recorded it soon after his Dad's death to honor him. He has a hard time keeping it together. He was so young looking. He started working out, eating healthy to help with his Depression. He said in an Interview there's a family video of him singing before he could even talk properly. He is Classically Trained & taught Voice Lessons to help pay his way through College. He ,also, served in the Brazilian Military. He's now my Favorite singer of all time. He's Beautiful inside & outside. Dan the Man!❤

Fun fact about that harmonica. It was his father's harmonica. His father gave it to him when he was a kid and that's what sparked Dan's interest in music. By playing it here he's thanking his father.

Dan Vasc said on Friday Night Tights that that harmonica was his first instrument, a gift from his father at age 7. :) His training and the strength in his voice is incredible. I think he has a 5 octave range? Dudes nuts. The power he gulps down before he goes "was blind but now I.......SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" is sooo intense

@@rosiewoodhouse5503 I bet he naturally inhales like 40% more oxygen just breathing normally than the rest of us do. The inside of his neck muscles must be so huge hahaha When I try to reach and sustain some of his notes it hurts the inside of my skull hahhahah XD My only other favorite Metal vocalist on youtube is Pellek cus he goes a little higher with the power metal falsetto but Dan is amazing. So much sustain and so much power at once is rare even in heavily trained vocalists like himself. "Metal is just therapy, we're all in therapy" as James Hetfield of Metallica once said :)

I loved your reaction to Dan's performance - was great to see how moved you were by his singing, as we all have been - I'm now subscribed... I discovered Dan's channel in early 2020 at the start of Covid - heard 'Toss a Coin to Your Witcher' first then 'Song of the White Wolf' and had the same jaw-dropping, ear-to-ear smile -- was totally blown away... His songs saved me during those dark times. ... Dan is Brazilian - native language is Portuguese. His dad gave him the harmonica when Dan was 7 (his dad passed away from cancer about 5 years ago).... Dan is genuine - he puts his whole soul into everything he sings and has incredible control as you've experienced. So many incredible covers (200+) for you to enjoy and react to --- Gethsemane, My Mother Told Me, any of his Evanescence songs, Nightwish songs, 'I'll make a man out of you', Handel's Messiah (all parts), even opera (see Nessun Dorma). Great review, and, I've watched this about 15 times, and I would need my own site to say how many things I love about it. I fell over it, "Metal Singer sings Amazing Grace" and out of curiosity watched it. I'm still stunned by it. So much to love. The beauty of his voice, the raw power which he can harness, but it turns on a dime and becomes soft and sincere, the phrasing, my favorite part of that, the way he sings the word "praise", ala "we sing God's praise", it's classic, it's perfect. The way he sets his body up for the power section, let's face it, the man is gorgeous, he's a beautiful physical specimen, and it's stunning to see such power in motion, as when we observe the finest thoroughbred win the Kentucky Derby. I'm not intending to insult him at all with that, but he is a fine example of beauty and power, and it's all masculine. I hope he's a believer, he sings as if he is, but his rendition is beautiful, and I pray God blesses him and allows him to keep that voice. Check out his rendition of Nessun Dorma, it's also superb.

That nosal resonance is quite rare for him. He make himself not do that and most can’t hear the metal coming at the begining. If so, like you, not not usually heard or reacted to .He sings every note and genre that exsists because hes been very well trained! This is the best version ever done! It is so powerful and to me, nothing compares ❤❤ And yes, its beyond beautiful

Oh wow she just had the same reaction as me. The first time I heard it. You can see it hit her hard and her eyes are tearing up. He really does have a very powerful voice that just hits you hard. Especially with this song. I would love to hear him sing more gospel

Thanks for the analysis of this amazing performance of Amazing Grace. It's easy for us fans of Friday Night Tights to take him for granted, seeing his opening every week, so it's nice to see others getting to see him in his natural element.
