the moment before the d8, it has been said by dimash that he actually meant to do something like a d7 or something (like in the duet with li yugang "drunken concubine + diva dance"), but it was the first time that he missed a note and went to make up for it and hit the d8 completely by accident. he said it was unintentional, but just proves how insanely talented this guy is.
@lolawants20083 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what it always looked like to me. I’ve seen him a few times do something u can subtly tell he’s not happy with, & then he usually does some kind of spontaneous flourish or gives it even more right after haha. Only he could make a mistake that is one for the record books 😹

He probably missed a G7, that was always the note he went for in previous performances to this. Well he made up for it? 😄😂
@MsLucy4ever3 жыл бұрын
I've never heard him say that it was by accident, he said that it was "spontaneous" when he was asked if it was planned. To me, that means that when he started singing he wasnt't thinking "Ok, in this one I'll make a D8", he just did it while performing, when he felt like it.

Another great reaction and analysis. Dimash wrote “Unforgettable Day” himself when he was still a teenager. This was at the annual Gakku TV open-air concert, and there were approximately 150,000 fans in attendance. Gakku TV is the first music channel in Kazakhstan that exclusively airs content produced in Kazakhstan, promoting Kazakh music, culture, and patriotism. Dimash set a record for the highest note ever sung in a live concert, during this 2017 live performance. It is his now-famous D8. He not only hit a D8 but he also did a glissando and held it for several seconds, even adding vibrato to it. It was a spontaneous attempt because he missed the slightly lower note he had initially aimed for. During the performance, he made certain to erase any doubt that this was indeed anything other than a true live performance by moving his mic quickly from side to side as he sang. Although, there are still the occasional trolls who claim that the note was pre-recorded or that it was an electronic glitch. The Guinness Book of Records lists the highest note ever produced by a male as an E8. That was done in a studio, where the singer was just trying to hit the note. He held the note briefly after a proper warm-up and several attempts.
@igat19833 жыл бұрын
Apparently for woman the highest note is G10 by Brazilian Georgia Brown - she did it with glissando and very nicely - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5KYaImcecZ4idk For man the record is held since 2019 by Iranian Amirhossein Molaei - F#8 - very briefly and with few attempts - kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3fIcpmBh8hrqKc

What astonish me the most in Dimash is how powerful the whistle is and how long. But to be honest it is not his best quality. He is master of emotional songs where he uses his voice purely for expression of emotions, not to "show off" or demonstrate his impeccable technique and limitless possibilities.

Thank u for the extra info.. I didn’t know that was what Gakku TV was about, so cool! Wish we could get that channel in the states. Yes it’s absurd to believe he doctored that note- his larynx is so high it wrinkles his neck as he sings that note! And yes I think most ppl miss that it actually has vibrato & is in tune. Wonderful mistake :)

@AntonLunin2 жыл бұрын
First, you are deadly charming! Secondly, you are artistic, emotional and professional! Thirdly, this humor... I love it! When Dimash makes movements with a microphone, but nothing is heard, I thought for a long time - what kind of technical failure has occurred. I thought that they turned off the live sound in order to turn on the whistle tone soundtrack ahead of time. But then I decided with a laugh that - YES! It went beyond the frequency characteristics audible to man! And you were the first to say this out of all the vocal teachers! I laughed heartily in the silence of the night! (a dolphin, a bird? No! Dimash!)) But, no one has noticed yet that when, after this note, he gets to his feet, someone, apparently in the hall, really whistles this very note and also with "floating in"!

Just when I thought I couldn’t love you any more, you do a Dimash reaction wearing a Prince shirt. P is my favorite musical artist. Thank you so very much! You’re reaction to the D8 almost looked like it more than startled you, like it may have been painful. You are correct about needing to see more of his stuff before doing a comprehensive video, because he has A LOT of techniques that he only uses when needed which may mean it’s only in one song. He just did it again in his new song “Stranger” where he unveiled a technique we haven’t seen from him yet (as well as showing off a more expanded range). Thanks again!

Dimash does a lot of swimming, for breath control, and martial arts, for channeling energy. If you watch any song where a phrase is particularly demanding, he opens up his body and moves his arms and he says that he goes down on his knees to concentrate the energy up through his torso. Hey, you should watch Je Suis Malade by Lara Fabian - it is fantastic.

So the way I see it, he sang that F#, and did the microphone shake as a mic technique for the cool "stacatto-like" sound. When he then sang the higher D in falsetto (before the D8), he tried to do the same thing. But because the volume of a falsetto is much lower than a really high mix, the mic just didn't pick the sound back up once it moved away. But then the whistle is so piercing that the mic has no issue picking that up.
