I have watched quite a lot of reaction channels (I'm pretty bedbound). I have never watched an ELO reaction. My older sister had a lot of ELO, and I liked it. But I felt like, "meh, I'm done with that." But I wanted to hear your take on it, and you have made me hear so much more than I heard when I was 18.

The intro music you referred to as "ominous" is called "The Ecstacy Of Gold" it was written by Ennio Morricone for the Clint Eastwood movie "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly". When members of Metallica heard it they agreed that it was perfect for building suspense and anticipation so they bought the rights to it and that music played as the intro before they took to the stage in every live performance after that. I have seen Metallica live 14 times in 4 different cities and they are by far the best live performers ever. I have been to too many concerts to even remember all of them but I remember the Metallica ones. First time I saw them live I had heard the name but had never heard a single song because I had judged them wrong and thought they were just one of those death metal bands that make a bunch of noise and scream hatefilled lyrics and boy was I wrong. I ended up at that concert because it was Metallica and Guns N' Roses and we went to see the latter. Metallica played first and by the end of the first song I was hooked. Their energy and sound quality along with the the talent was amazing and Guns N' Roses knew it too. When buying the tickets there was a disclaimer stating there would be a 60-90 minute intermission between bands because Metallica's stage set had to be taken down and Guns N' Roses stage had to be assembled. There was a giant video screen set up on both sides of the stage outside of the curtains concealing the stage work and about the 2 hour mark in the intermission when the crowd was getting noticeably more agitated and it felt like trouble was coming at any second one of the cameramen for the video screens had a moment of genius and turned his camera on lighting up the video screens then scanned around the crowd and zoomed in on a scantily clad beautiful girl close to the front and when she realized it she jumped up on her seat and let them puppies loose then it was on and the othera camera operators joined in and the next hour and a half was a titties and ass show. It turned out to be three and a half hour intermission with the delay being blamed on stage problems while erecting the G N' R stage but I have always believed it was due to G N' R realizing that they could not follow Metallica without everyone realizing how much better Metallica is so they stalled and stalled hoping the crowd wouldn't notice as much but we did anyway. It was funny when we first got to our seats and there were two older ladies right behind us wearing Metallica shirts. I say older but they were probably mid forties and my friend and myself were mid twenties and at the time it blew my mind that women that old were there to see Metallica. We talked to them quite a bit before the show then when Metallica finished they tapped us on the shoulder and said goodbye. I asked why they were leaving early and one said "we aren't leaving early, we came to see Metallica and Guns N' Roses can suck it!" That was hilarious and I'll never forget that I am 55 now and remember that like it was yesterday.

I was today years old when I realised that I was watching videos on youtube from creators that I always watch because I've subscribed to them. I realise this when I go to click subscribe. Am I alone in this? I feel it's in the same field as getting to the top of the stairs and asking yourself what you are doing up here?

I always wondered why even today Patton paces around the stage. Most guys as they get older just stand. He literally does circles in front of the drum kit. His voice is more of an actor than most actors. It’s insane the things he can do with his voice. And ya Mike Patton is a singer’s singer.

Love this breakdown! You've got a knack for explaining such explicit and expert breakdowns to laymen terms that we can understand. I knew back in the day that I liked this song, it's fun now in my older age to hear you break down why it was enjoyable. Also love your sense of humor, never stop that haha

This song is 60 years old and never ages. A masterpiece sung by Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers, a counter tenor. His partner Bill Medley is a baritone and when the two sing together it magical. Amazing.

Great review, fellow Aussie here, or are you perhaps a kiwi that has come to Oz? Or an Aussie that has gone to NZ, I am not sure...... Anyway as a Bass player and Audiophile I thoroughly enjoyed your analysis of this totally sublime track. I am currently learning to play it, the Bassline is not as simple as one would think and has some quite technical parts in it. Love the Bass A string slide just before the first chorus starts. Many cheers

DO MORE PATTON!!! Broadest useful vocal range in modern music. More than one full octave wider than Mariah. He's had multiple side projects, experimental projects and has been in a few amazing supergroups. I've seen him sing opera, flamenco and multiple rock and metal styles. The dude is just not human. Do some digging and enjoy. Make sure you have a towel...

Loved your review, please never suppress or edit out your emotions. We have to much emotional repression & performative veneers of implacablity in our society. Some of us have been forced to repress so much we can only experience an emotional release as a reaction to another's heartfelt expression. I know you did this reaction a while ago, but I hope you'll also do one for Bad Wolves cover, and the story around the making of their version. ❤❤❤

I'm a little heartbroken to hear you say you want to SEE the artist on you channel, because my favorite Annie Lennox/Eurythmic song is Not even 70% as good on the live BBC version, because she sings the double-tracked vocals so beautifully on the studio version, but the background singers on the BBC show do not even come close to the quality of her singing on the original. Plus the TV director moved to the camera that's on the background singers, at the most important point of Annie's performance. Anyways, if you want to hear her most beautiful singing (imo) the song is No Fear No Hate No Pain (No Broken Hearts). It is a magnificent vocal recording. And Dave Stewart is a brilliant producer. Only one channel has reacted to it, and his channel's sound quality is not good. (But he used to be a DJ, so he did pick up on how cool the parts of the song are.)
