If you like, you can review her performance of "Natural Woman" on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, instead of the performance she did at the memorial service. I, myself, prefer the Tonight Show performance. It's on a much smaller scale and far more intimate, and the audio quality is superb. Also, she doesn't go all over the place, as she is want to do, with vocal pyrotechnics. She just sings it straight up, and it's gorgeous. Well, I think so, anyway. She shouldn’t, Ariana was crying during it, so her voice was very dry and raspy, which made her strain a lot. Not that good of a performance.

Can you tell when a singer use autotune or something similar in live performences? Cause there was a sound there (around 4:12) that I didn't think were natural. I like her voice dont get me wrong. Is just that with all this technology applied in music one sometimes suspect when it is to perfect.

This is how I rate the big 5 in my all time list; 1) Whitney 2) Mariah 3) Christina 4) Beyonce 5) Ariana Not much between them all - they are all top class vocalists and performers. Ariana is the one who will get better and better - she is still young and her vocal range is stunning. I do think she needs to get some more world beating, unforgettable anthems in her portfolio though before she can join the “legends” club. The late, great Teena Marie was better than all of them but not as commercially successful alas. I must also mention Tori Kelly who has impressed me lately. She has an amazing voice.

Ariana doesn't have much of an *open* sound or full sound for that matter... her voice is light and lacking connection of mixing and agility.. love her voice and sound, but she's kind of a 2 trick pony 😔

It's because that she has a nasal placement. When she was on Broadway, she sounded a lot more full and open. She really decides on how she wants to sound, and it seems to appeal a lot of the GP

@@HonestVocalCoach ariana voice as a *whole* seems to be head voice and falsetto... this is heard in a lot of her songs, because to me ariana lacks agility, diversity and overall fullness in her voice. She can't mix because she doesn't have a strong enough chest voice. I'm not a *vocal* *coach* like you, but i know music and i know voices. A lot of ariana songs end the same way with a high not final chorus and same *scream*😔.... all a matter of opinion of course
