I was also totally blown away by Adam Rupp's 'castanets' he was creating. I've never heard a human recreate the sound of castanets before, and it was just a perfect highlight to that tune! :)

The one that was very animated and fun was Austin Brown their high tenor, he's had classical training and show performance used to sing for Voices of Liberty at Disney and also did some musical theatre on Cruise ships before joining Home Free and you can tell he still has that animated show quality. Making it fun to watch as well as listen to.

The Wellerman is known so well here. Being in Ireland of course sea shanties are huge but my 8 year old daughter's class recorded this last week and they did an amazing job with percussion too! They are a talented bunch! She's autistic but goes to mainstream school due to being academically gifted. She started Violin lessons today and already she's a natural. She asked me do you do online lessons for younger children? She wants to be a professional singer and musician.
@overthewebb
@overthewebb 2 жыл бұрын
Sea shanties are not Irish though, as much as I love you Irish. I'm Scottish myself and it's obvious Sea Shanties in the main are English folk music from the West country and Cornwall and Devon etc. Americans wrongly seem to think Bristol and the West country accent is Irish. You guys have mananged to convince America that you are a part of everything wrongly. I mean you have 58 likes on your coment as Americans think the Irish created Sea shanties wrongly. Kinda unbelievable considering Ireland never had a navy historically
@feathersong5838
@feathersong5838 Жыл бұрын
@@overthewebb I'm not entirely sure where you got your facts from cause a small amount of glancing around, no one seems to know where sea shanties actually came from orignally. Some say American ships before steam powered ships became more popular, some say Irish, some say Scottish, some say Irish inspired, some say English, some say shanties orignally came from loggers, and some say it game from African American slaves. Unless you're talking about a specific sea shanty, shanties in general don't seem to have a specific location attached to them. They're kinda from all over.

And all done in quarantine! Home Free is so good. Love their harmonies. Tim (bass-Jack Sparrow) and Austin (sword) went full pirate mode. Who knew sea shanties were a thing? I didn’t. Chance (who lead the medley) loves sea shanties and convinced the boys to do this. So glad you noticed the castanets- most reactors either don’t hear them or don’t mention them and I loved them too. I don’t know how Adam (beatboxer) does them. Rob (glasses) is the last member. Hopefully this will help you remember them. Try Helplessly Hoping, Auld Lang Syne, In the Blood for more great harmonies. Good reaction!

As a youth I grew to age among those who worked upon the earth and sea, almost all were Irish butof course the boatmen were French and Canadians. What sticks in my ears and heart comes from time mostly at the Local Irish pub and a frencham owned saloon. They had a radio in each, we were far from TV, wasn't built then, and in each when radio one of own nationality sang all the men joined in. I miss those voices they sang from joy, they sang from sadness, they sang of life. Lots of shanty songs of Cod, Mackeral and lobster fishermen sang of seamens lives the Canadians sang old Brit and inbboth the loggers and woodsman sang their ditys. Even the women sang Shanty, and old Irish dittys and just as lustily used the same raunchy words as the men. No easy living, man or woman sang hard, worked hard, lived hard and loved hard till they died hard, and those songs many of which were hundreds of years had been sang by their ancestors. It was a tribute to each other to join in singing with each other Many a great donny brook I seen as a lad and later as logger joined in with gusto. Yet there were many a sad song and each poured a wee dollop upon ground or floor towards an empty chair for the ones no longer among them. One needed no instruments or maybe now and then as they bang ed their pints on bar and stamped feet The squeeze box, an old guitar maybe and a man or two who could use harmonica or whistle a tune. Shanty and ditty if words listened tobby those who lived them. I miss those men and women of back then who sang from souls.

If you want to hear a deep voice, watch Folsom Prison Blues... the last note Tim hits along with the lighting and the look he gives makes him seem positively evil...

@@Tarasimonstudios You are anti-vaccine? Really? You are that selfish and uneducated? People like you are why we haven't killed the virus, like when we came together as caring human beings and killed polio and small pox. Those vaccines are mandatory and I don't see anti vaxxers crying about getting those! Oh...and I don't see polio or small pox around either! SHAME ON YOU! NEVER WATCHING YOU AGAIN. #boycotttarasimon

Thank you for recognizing the castanets. So few reactors mention them. Chance (in the blue t-shirt) is the sea shanty fan. I've heard his voice described a great voice for storytelling. I have actually heard them do this song live. You can probably search for a live video of this. Just keep in mind that it will probably be recorded on someone's phone, so the quality may not be great.
