it is actually a song mentioning the partition of India and Pakistan, mainly the state of Punjab. And Jugni is a folk song from Punjabi culture. It is a beautiful mashup song, mentioning the separated land, rivers, and people of the partitioned state of Punjab.

Hey Justin, The song is basically about how the traditional Punjabi culture is slowly fading away due to influences of the Western world. I feel like the point they’re trying to make is that there still is value to be found in old traditions.

The lyrics are super emotionally charged for those of us from Punjab - whether you’re Pakistani or Indian - culturally we have more in common than in difference. The connection between Diljeet and Gurdas Maan would be the equivalent of you signing with Sinatra or Elvis or even MJ. Diljeet is literally singing alongside the guy who probably inspired him to become a singer. GM is a godfather and yes Diljeet is amazing and super talented - one day maybe you’ll see him mentoring and singing next to a younger generation singer. The song is about a lot of emotionally difficult topics that aren’t really discussed because of the painful history. It’s about the partition of India into india and Pakistan where the border was drawn right the middle of the Punjab region turning Sikh Hindu and Muslim brothers and sisters into enemies over night. The bloodshed. The betrayal felt on both sides of the border. The regret that we let it happen. Maybe now we understand a bit better why farmers in India are uniting to stand against the government. We know what happens if you just go along and going back will never be an option. The second part of the song is about losing your culture. It’s part of our culture to embrace other cultures when we immigrate to other countries. That’s why Punjabis particularly become pillars of the communities they live in anywhere in world. But the song suggests that by embracing other cultures we should not lose ours. We should embrace and retain. Because they can co-exist as long as we lead with love and compassion. I don’t do it justice however - you’ll need to do the research for yourself. Just my 2 cents. Peace, love and respect to all. Keep up the great work and keep the videos coming!

As UK born Indian Sikh I can say as most Singh’s say the Pakistani people are our family, my Baba ji’s best friend is Muslim who lives in Pakistan before the partition we also call him Baba Ji and consider his family ours, don’t let people divide. We are all one across-the world

Full translations from Punjabi to English. In today's times, romance has become frivolous Destroying the divine concept of true love Men date women without the intention to marry them Where is chivalry heading? Where is the youth heading? Where is the beauty-struck youth heading? Traditional embroidered costumes are disappearing Traditional earrings are disappearing Traditional embroidered costumes are disappearing Traditional earrings are disappearing Traditional silk stoles and robes are disappearing Traditional veils and the veiled women are disappearing Our traditional values are disappearing! Oh what is to become of our world? Only the God almighty knows What is to become of our world? Only the God almighty knows What is to become of our world? Only the God almighty knows What is to become of our world? Only the God almighty knows What is to become of our world? My blessed soul belongs to you my almighty It belongs to the heavenly star It also belongs to holy men under the banyan tree My blessed soul belongs to you my almighty Water filled vessels once sat on your head No one could bare the radiance of your ethereal beauty Praises were showered upon you in every direction you traveled Anklets embraced your feet with exaltation But now you seem to have forgotten your own true value Your graceful elegance is dissipating Forgetting your old folk tunes Oh what is to become of our world? Only the God almighty knows What is to become of our world? Only the God almighty knows What is to become of our world? My blessed soul belongs to you my almighty It belongs to the heavenly star It also belongs to holy men under the banyan tree My blessed soul belongs to you my almighty Our partition cost us dearly River Chenab often asks her sister River Ravi How is my dear brother River Sutlej The road to Peshawar is far and distant and hard to reach At the Wagah border I look for those paths that once existed to Lahore, but sadly don’t exist anymore The road to Peshawar is far and distant and hard to reach Today ‘hello’ and ‘thank you’ are more prevalent than ‘Namaste’ and ‘Shukriya’ We seem to be losing our own identity We take no pride in our own languages We feel no shame in disrespecting and condescending ourselves It is important to learn other languages, but without foregtting our own Let’s not lose what we have, looking at what others have, because no good has ever come from it Drugs are ruining the youth of our country Reducing their bodies to bones that sound like Shiva’s drums of death Bad politics is killing the ambition of our youth Cheating has become the norm Oh Maan, there is no guarantee of what the future holds Remember our wise ancestors said that holding grudges against your circumstances will never bring you any good. So be positive! Oh what is to become of our world? Only the God almighty knows What is to become of our world? Only the God almighty knows What is to become of our world? My blessed soul belongs to you my almighty It belongs to the heavenly star It also belongs to holy men under the banyan tree My blessed soul belongs to you my almighty

Gurdas Maan is a pride of whole India not just Punjab...he ruled as undisputed king of Punjabi music for more than a decade and no one could come near to him then...he was the pioneer of Punjabi pop culture...a multi talented personality...he is an engineer, black belt in karate, actor, producer, director, song writer, music director...and of course singer par excellence...and he was in his sixties during this performance...The singer beside him is Diljeet Dosanjh who is a prominent Punjabi singer of these days...I guess once little Diljeet has dreamt of sharing stage with Gurdaas Maan...and then his dream came true......
