That instrument is called shehnai which traditionally played during a wedding. Which is beautifully used representing daughter leaving her parent's home, telling her father i will always be your little girl and never leave your side. 😭😭

Almost in every line they used Gujarati(regional language of India) metaphors and that is something that connects me to this song being a Gujarati. I give you one example, when Kirtidan Gadhvi (male singer) starts singing in gujarati, his first line is "o re o parevda, tu kale udi ja je re". It explains how a young bird dives into its first flight and then starts flying on its own by leaving the nest. The same way a loving daughter leaves his father when she marries. A father's urge to her daughter is to stay by him just for one more moment. I can just go on and on and on about these metaphors in Gujarati. 😍

As with any song, some cultural notes will help appreciate the nuances in this song: This song is rich with metaphors and symbolism drawn from the old era when the daughter was married off to far off lands at a young age, and she lost all contact with her parents after that. In an era where there was no post or phone, the girl was totally cut off from the world she knew and cherished. A lot of Indian songs describe the longing of the newly married girl who pines for her parents and friends. In some songs, the young woman pleads with migratory birds or even the wind to bring some news about her parents, or to convey her message to them. This particular song expresses the wish of a girl to remain forever at the side of her dear father. She complains why her father has turned away, forcing her to go away. She asks pitifully what she has done to deserve this vengeful act. The father also feels that she should remain for a little more by his side, and not leave him so soon. In his mind, she is the same little, sweet child he held in his arms. To catch the nuances, the viewers should read the lyrics and English translation provided below the Coke Studio video. *Comments:* The translation does not include _"Khamma ghani",_ which is actually a blessing (may you live long). The reference to the string that pulls the cradle is a metaphor for the pull of fatherly love. Endearments like _mithudi_ (sweet child), _laadki_ (darling daughter), etc. show how much the father loves his precious daughter. *Singers:* Rekha Bhardwaj represents the grown up daughter. Her voice is mingled with Tanishka's to show how the mature girl standing at the altar is still her daddy's small girl at heart. The young woman is suddenly transported to her little self. Kirtidan Gadhvi's voice brings out the diehard father who's a softy at heart. *Instruments used:* The reed (woodwind) instrument used at 5:16 is Shehnai, which is the primary instrument used at weddings. (It is like a clarinet without keys.) Its plaintive sound evokes both happiness and pathos at the same time.

@nagesharas5136 Жыл бұрын
@@dougel4709the Shehnai has a reed mouthpiece, like clarinet. On the other hand, a snakecharmer's _been_ is played by just pursing the lips, puffing your cheeks and blowing air to make a pffffff sound. (like how a didgeridoo is played). But a been has an acoustic chamber (made from a dried gourd) to amplify the sound.

Hi Beth, I would like to recommend this version of the hymn "Ribirth" by the Brazilian power metal band Angra. This specific version is sung by Nando Fernandes from the band "Sinistra" and Angra's guitarist Rafael Bittencourt. Nando Fernandes is one of the greatest voices of rock/metal in Brazil, his voice is too powerful, and in closed places without a microphone, his voice echoes through the walls and it seems that the environment is full of speakers. I kindly ask you to analyze this man's voice, which unfortunately is little known. I am sure you will be shocked..... kzbin.info/www/bejne/ap_FZpx8qZJ8mpI&ab_channel=CortesdoAmplifica%5BOFICIAL%5D
