There’s another voice coach who said that the lady Gaga sounded like she was really singing with a cigarette in her mouth in the studio, lol. Like that’s how her voice literally sounds when you listen to her here.

I'm lazy and haven't gone back to listen to the audio only track. But I find myself wondering if once they decided on what would be in the video if she actually went back and rerecorded that part of the song with the Ciggy. She's enough of a perfectionist I could see her looking at an early edit of the video and deciding it looked silly with her normal singing voice coming out of her mouth in that bit.
