When mariah duets with someone - she doesn’t really try to outshine anyone. I notice in her duets - she tries to blend and give the other singer some moments - so they could create good performance!

There’ll never be a greater... at her best it’s just so amazing. And not even about huge vocals. Just tone, riffs and harmonizing. Serving the song, which is something non fans don’t even realise she does. For the record though I love johns low notes on this. But you’re ultimately fighting a loosing battle when you duet with the great Mariah.

Mariah Carey’s D6 here is head voice you guys and it’s fully resonant, she riffs from a D6 to a pianississimo F5 while keeping the same resonance. This is the answer for how good Mariah’s headvoice is, she doesn’t often use it but she mastered it. Her headvoice compared to Sohyang’s, it is MUCH better, she just doesn’t often use it

Wow! I’d never seen this performance so thank you for reviewing. As much as I love the “WTF” videos, I equally enjoy these reactions to older performances by amazing vocalists... particularly Mariah! Her voice has always fascinated me and I must admit, I’ve become one of the Lambily in the last 6 months through watching reaction videos from you and others. There is such a duality to her voice... it’s both powerful with it’s incredible range and vulnerable with the raspiness and whisper tones. For all the naysayers commenting that you review too much Mariah, I think there is a demand for it not just because of her technique & range, but also because of the changes that are evident throughout her long career. It’s interesting to hear a vocal teachers opinion and we value yours! I also love how you comment on the staging and outfits of the performers - it’s a great holistic reaction to the performance rather than just the vocals.

This is one of my favorite live performances of hers ever. Yes, there is absolutely no lip syncing and no backing track or background singers, which she is famous for all those. I would love to hear you explain some of the vocal techniques she uses or does naturally (I'm not sure). I heard sone vocal breaks. Is that something that happens naturally when singing in a higher key or is it a stylistic choice?? I love your Mariah reactions, but I would love to be able to understand how she can sing like that. Please explain if you can 💕
@mijalakis34 жыл бұрын
No, those are intentional breaks. Mariah's range would not make her break at the 5th octave specially during that time. She is brilliantly mixing when necessary which makes the performance even lighter or she goes straight to head voice. Lets not even mention the whistle. A complete whistle used only as ambiance, that has always wet her apart as an artist that could whistle. The way she controls it of course but not importantly the way she doses it in her music. Maybe an exclamation like Emotions, a background like I wanna know what love is original recording or in this case was meant to accompany Johns solo and she made it somehow sound as if it was the wind doing it and her face isn't flinching or anything at all. She made it seem so easy like she was just doing it for fun.
