I really love how young female pop artists are bringing back film and music references from a couple decades ago to a younger audience. She was inspired by DEATH BECOMES HER and this recreation is SO GOOD!

A friend of mine commented years ago that we haven’t had a pop star in a long time. I text him recently like Sabrina Carpenter. She has it. She’s managed to do it. She honed in on her aesthetic, sound, humor, etc and she’s just enjoying making pop music and she has that appeal. Not singing in cursive. Not frying her vocals. Not trying to be Amy Winehouse.

What i love about this latest era from Sabrina is the humour she brings into the genre. From the lyrics to the video. She already did this in her 'emails i can't send' era, but she's really honed in on it now, and it's absolutely fantastic!

I think Sabrina’s voice has gotten a lot brighter recently. Some of her older songs had her using a darker tone. She’s completely changed the way she sings too because it used to be more full and belty while now it is quite a bit more airy. Compare her vocals from Thumbs to this or some of her other old songs.

100% agree that it’s refreshing to see someone embrace the pop era and that aesthetic of music. It’s lighthearted, it’s upbeat. Her music videos are the same. It’s almost a revival of the 2000s like you mentioned. Sabrina has been making music for 10 or so years and I really love that she’s come into her own here. She’s obviously very talented and she’s obviously having SO MUCH FUN and I think we’re all here for it!
