Scorpions is my favorite band, and I am not a native English speaker. I speak Spanish, but scorpions has broken barriers of language, age and skin through the world. I think there is no other band who has cared about that. And the voice of Klaus!!! He can make you dream awake! He does that for me....blast! I just love them, sorry!

Klaus is fantastic and has been for a long time. He's always been one of my favorites. Pictured Life, Catch Your Train, Always Somewhere, Yellow Raven , Born to Touch Your Feelings, We'll Burn the Sky. Klaus could do it all even before they became popular. As I've said before Ken, one of the most impressive things I remember him doing was the long & powerful shouts between sentences. "Are you out there" "California" etc... When most of us would be taking a breath before singing the next line, he belts out these guttural operatic calls to get the crowd in a frenzy. Impressive. Can you believe they let Uli sings some songs at all?

In my personal rating of live performances, they are No 1. Their performance at Ramblin Man festival in the Uk was phenomenal. At some point they were all 4 playing guitars. So the bands which are on stage 50+ years are the best!

Hey Ken.its a pleasure for me see u again doing another Video and of course one of the best Rock n Roll Bands in History The Scorpions. I know that Klaus Meine had a Voice surgery early 80s . Might be 1981 or 82 i guess.Saw them last year live in Regensburg Germany.And it was awesome.Check out their Performance at the Wacken Festival in 2006 I Think.They played this Song way more powerful and heavier .

@@robbiegarnz7732 Neither, he just laid down some tracks "just in case" but when Klaus came back more powerful than ever, they recorded over Dokken's vocals. Don even said that he never felt right doing the tracks because he respected Klaus so much that he knew he could never replace him. One rock mag said that when Klaus had his surgery, they put metal vocal chords in his throat, cuz he came back stronger than ever.

Coming from Germany I'm proud of the Scorps. Kudos to them 👏. Just think about it, you're starting in the Hannover area and to be able to conquer the world is just mindblowing. Funnily enough, whenever they're doing interviews in Germany, they always saying "We just toured America, France, Russia but we're also coming back for a few dates in our home country" ☺️️. Geez, they also played a gig in fricking Uzbekistan. How crazy is that? 😀 They're quite big in Germany but not the biggest. I have the impression that the German audience don't believe them straight away, but it's true, they are like the Beatles in Russia. If you ask any hard rock fan in the US "Do you know the Scorpions?", I dare to say the answer would be "hell yeah". They're an institution in rock music that influenced so many musicians. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Are you listening? I like you but please do me a favour ... 😉

Great reaction! Klaus has a really incredible voice. I think that the reason why he was mostly sharp throughout this performance is because the instrumentation in this live performance is a semitone lower than that on the record, the latter of which may have been how the song was written.

I think the main reason that Klaus sounds a little "sharp" here is that the guitars are tuned down a full step (almost drop d). Scorpions normally tune down a half- step (at leat they used to) when playing live. That is probably Why Matthias Jabs was having to retune his guitar in the middle of the song. It sounds like he was trying to tune sharper to match Klaus' vocals, but did not get sharp enough. Rudolf Schenker's Flying V style guitars always sound a little more bassy for the heavy rhythm style he plays. Most bands with any longevity (like Scorpions) have had to gradually tune down over the years to match the loss in a singer's higher vocal register. However, Klaus has not lost much range like other singers his age. This is just a theory from a huge fan that has been listening to and covering Scorpions songs live for decades, but I could be wrong. 😉

Hey Ken❗👍🏻...GREAT stuff man😁👍🏻🇺🇸...Well, ONE-of the-REASONS 'Why' Klaus was ABLE TO Last for so long in the rehearsals and practicing for hours-on-end withOUT incident {until at least MANY years LATER} was because since he had used a lot of 'Nasality' by 'masking'-the-Sound [as you'd mentioned earlier...because THAT was actually 'part of' the song-style' and NOT by 'singers-error'] is because WHEN HE DOES 'THAT', he's more-or-less in a way 'Transferring' a good portion of that vocal energy FROM the 'Throatal-Arena', more or less...and then SENDING IT all back into his head-voice IN THE FORM OF sorta 'masking the sound' [again, as you initially pointed out earlier]...thereby, relieving extra tension away from his 'Throatal-Area' and therefore, ENABLING him to last as long as he did...& as a result of doing THAT, his throat lasted much longer than the most others... Kinda like somebody running...and then abruptly stopping and then doing squats with their knees instead of DIRECTLY-USING their feet...for example...thereby 'transferring' all that continual tension from the feet & into the knees...yet STILL 'All Part Of' the 'LEG' family', per say...if you know what I mean...lol...🤡🙃 ALWAYS doing a GREAT-Job Mr. Ken❗😁👍🏻🇺🇸 Keep it Rockin' with the Great Work!

Thank you ! I've heard a story about the writing of this song, that it was actually written right after the summer of 1989, after Scorpions took part in the Moscow Music Peace Festival in August 1989, being of course inspired in the song message by that experience they had in the Soviet Union. So in one interview Klaus Meine stated that the song was finished incredibly about 2 months before the ,,Berlin Wall Fall" despite the fact that the song describes so great what will happen soon, as it has been written after the historic event...

I think Matthias might have come up flat on the one and a half bend. Also, he let up the palm mute a little early on the sweep/rake. Nevertheless, he’s 10 times better than I could be even if I practice a month of Sundays! Great reaction to a monster band. It’s so great to hear that they are such nice guys. I’ve been able to sing home sweet home by Mötley Crüe but then I had this bad sore throat and cold now for like 3 weeks but now I have finally gotten off that cold and sore throat but I am not able to sing the higher notes in my chest voice anymore like I used to my voice just gives out and I go silent (Any suggestions to what I should do need help)

When Klaus had to rest his voice for a year - the greedy record company really pressured the band to replace him- the Scorps said absolutely not - no Klaus no Scorps- they waited for him to get better. That’s was an awesome they refused to cave in- Klaus got better ans they were even better than before! ps - there’s a new documentary about the scorps- they have been together 50 years! it’s in German but with english subtitle. I saw an add for it but can’t find it anywhere... does anyone know how to see it? Luv your work Ken & Peace Out!

an add-on - the Scorps documentary is called ‘Scorpions Forever and a Day’ and it’s finally on Amazon Prime. Some of the band members met in 1965-= mind blown here. lol . It follows last tour 2015 but i think they’ve toured since. I’m 1/2 iinto doc and it’s pretty good.. You can tell Klaus tones down his famous high pitch/ vibrato in recent clips but it’s ok - the audiences sing the songs for them. 👌 Thanks Ken for your great work on metal bands!
