Before she went out and performed this song, she was told by her doctor not to speak due to her terrible pneumonia! She still went on stage and performed amazingly despite being really sick. This performance is only showing a little bit of what she is capable of. If you realy whant A LOT SUBCRIBERS then please react to Dimash Kudaibergen - SOS. This singer from Kazakhstan was only 22 when he was in The Singer 2017 tv show from China. He can sing a lot of different songs/styles in a lot of different languages. And he can do even more things. A lot of people say he has the best voice in the world and i agree that he is realy good. She is a master vocal technician and musician - and I mean a Real master - she has a variety of types of songs and duets that are just riveting. Her vocal coach (Seth Riggs) was the same one as Prince, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Madonna, Johnny Hallyday, and Barbra Streisand. Many of her online songs are basically master classes in singing.

SoHyang is UNBELIEVABLE to me, she's the best singer out there. I hope to see you react & analyse her perfomances more. I'd recommend Dream, Fate, Where Are You and Bridge Over Troubled Water. She has messed up on stage before but it's because she had many many many sick moments where she wasn't supposed to be even singing, she's a cancer survivor and till now her immunity is pretty weak so she gets sick often, for example this performance you just watched she had pneumonia and her doctor said she shouldn't even speak this day but she still chose to sing, so you can see what's she capable off. Hope to see you react to her more. I love your analysis and i've been learning so much from you.

Definitely react to more So Hyang! I would go so far to say that she’s the most technically proficient vocalist currently alive. Her mixed voice and head voice are incredible and her low notes and middle register are still really good for such a high tessitura. She actually had pneumonia during this performance so these notes are nothing for her. She can effortlessly support up to a C#6 in a fully balanced mixed voice (highest mixed note in this performance is G5) and she’s particularly famous for her incredible mixed Bb5s. She’s the queen of the upper 5th octaves and thanks to her head voice with consistent support to E6, she has some of the best 6th octave notes out there too. Not to mention her seamless transitions between registers and her near flawless technique in general. She’s a vocal monster thanks to 20+ years of vocal training and you should definitely check more of her out. I suggest “Arirang Alone” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” next.

Sebastian Thorsen Ugh are you one of those Filipino stans? Morissette is very good, but she is by no means as good as So Hyang. Her lows are arguably less resonant and supported and she often strains halfway up her fifth octave. Literally the only thing she does better is whistle register and maybe middle register, but that’s not saying much. So Hyang is also superior with support, agility, transitions, intonation, and versatility.

Tara Simon Studios I’ve actually found a couple of her lectures on KZbin. They are in Korean but I’m still able to observe her teaching various vocal techniques. On a personal note, she’s a cancer survivor and has done most of her singing in church. It’s my understanding that she’s been offered contracts over the years but has turned them down , wanting to sing for God instead. I don’t know how to explain it, but her soul comes through her singing in such a special way.

It's interesting how you turn this masterfully executed performance into a lesson of vocal pedagogy and appreciate the inclusion of the song genre and message as part of the consideration. Sohyang is one of most technically precise vocalist I know. As a footnote, it was reported that Sohyang performed this song under the effect of pneumonia and against the doctor's advice not to talk. She has a very high tessitura and I always wondered whether she might have delivered this song slightly differently if she were healthy. I hope you will do more analysis of Sohyang's performance. Can you believe sohyang was having a pneumonia? It was so bad that she almost had to cancel her performance. However, due to many complicated reasons, she went on stage and performed.

Since late 2017, she is constantly fighting against a pneumonia. She mentioned during in an interview that she strived for a technical perfection. She wanted her every performance to be flawless, and she felt defeated when she couldnt perform at her best due to her medical condition.

She suffered for more than 3 years and that’s why she didnt perform on stage for a while. It’s not clear if she is still fighting against pneumonia but Suffering from a pneumonia changed her attitude towards her singing. Rather than pursuing technical perfection, fame, success, recognition from others, she focused on putting her soul into the song and tried to touch and heal others with her song. That was when she started to gain a lot attraction from big names such as david foster, michael bolton, and etc. michael bolton loved her singing so much that he asked her to join his world tour. She said, she would have pursued success, fame, if it wasnt a pneumonia. But because of suffering, she was able to learn the true value of singing rather than pursuing a technical perfection, fame, and recognition.

strain???? Ahahaha, funny. deaf and poor vocal knowledge. don't disgrace yourself. Look at the analysis of his technique by vocal coach from Europe, Russia, Turkey, and many others, Dimash is recognized as one of the best in technique.

They say NOT strained. If he had strained, they would not have spoken, and simply were silent. If you understood Russian, you would understand that new analysis this professional musician and vocal teacher talk about the academic vocal of Dimash, the academic vocal is safe and healthy for vocal chords. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4G7maWehcedecU Dimash studied vocal from childhood and if he were strains he would have lost his voice long time ago. No one can stand many hours of concerts if with tension in the voice and bad technique. Now Dimash only improves his vocals and quite significantly chest voice. Just a side note.... she had pneumonia during this performance. She saw a Dr. before going on stage, and the Dr. told her not to speak, so she did this with weak lungs and a bad throat. Just image if she were healthy. She is one of those once in a lifetime singers. So this "HIGH" notes that you heard and mentioned, are not high to her. She has EXTREME range. She kept this toned down due to her pneumonia. She has been said to have a 5 octave range. From the 2nd up into the 7th. Her favorite not that I hear the most is a G5, but goes up over C#6 in a couple videos. A couple of good ones that show her range are I have Nothing and Dream, then Everyone which shows her ability to sing without any music to back her up for a time.
