I'm also singer and I agree that she has a very beautiful emotional singing voice. As a singer I think that it's something that is as important that having a good technic, you can have the most powerful voice and best technic but if you can't put the good emotion in your voice you will sound like a robot and boring.

Covering a Little Mix song is a bold choice. A cover is always going to get compared to the original and let's be real here, not a lot of people can compare to Little Mix vocally. Yet Yoohyeon did a beautiful, emotional rendition of the song and she didn't try to emulate the original but did her own thing. I love both Dreamcatcher and Little Mix so I absolutely love this cover from Yoohyeon. Thanks for another great reaction and analysis. If you ever feel like it, you should definitely react to some Little Mix 😊

from all special clips of all members, this is my favorite. I cannot watch without crying. And Yoohyeon was the only member who said on TV that she likes people, any kind of people, so this special clip means even more to me. Siyeon is my bias but Yoohyeon's voice is my favorite.

Ariana you say? She and Sua did a cover of 7 Rings for their concert subunits. It seemed more about showing off the sexy dance performance rather than showing off vocals which were still good. I’m amazed that you can point out the processed parts of the song because with all those breathy and cracking sounds you’d think it was almost raw audio. But yes, you can definitely feel emotion when she sings. I think that’s why she’s my bias. Her other covers “2002” and “Perfect” feel really emotional too.

i think all vocalists in dreamcatcher can really put a lot of emotions into their voices!! but yeah this cover by her was the first thing that really made me /notice her when i first got into them, you can hear the emotion and see it written on her face. do you think it was more um processed than that siyeon special clip? cause to me it sounded much less so, but that's just a subjective opinion of an amateur.. Edit: personally i prefer when you can hear that english isn't their first language if that makes sense... english isn't my first language either and in my opinion if you can hear what they're singing it doesn't have to sound like how a native speaker would sing it (and tbh some american artists whose native language is english sing in a way that confuses me even after being fluent for years). it adds something unique to the song, nothing bad with having an accent for example and it's common to pronounce things differently while singing anyway

I agree yoohyeon's voice is very emotional, and you can say she puts passion in it. And she has a great beautiful vocal color and talent. But im sorry for still being a siyeon trash lol i saw them live in 2017, and until now i cant shake away the feeling of siyeon's live voice, even if yoohyeon's voice got me dead on the floor, siyeon just got me good and i mean GOOD. Oh you mentioned her low register, let me tell you, recently yoohyeon and siyeon did a vlive in which they playfully sang some songs, and one of them was Mulan ost song, and yoohyeon got kinda low on her register and it took by total surprise how full and powerful it sounded lol you maybe should start watching their vlives, specially siyeon's and yoohyeon's, sometimes they kinda hold a concert while singing bits of the songs fans request from them. Siyeon always forgets lyrics and changes nuances but stipl its very impressive and amusing. Last time siyeon did this it was a 2 hours vlive of her singing and it filled me with undying joy for a whole week lol

Man I love this clip. It's in my top 3 of DC's special clips. I just love Yoohyeon's voice - her voice is my favorite in Dreamcatcher and one of my favorites across all of kpop. Her tone is just so pretty. One of my favorite clips of her singing is her cover of Euphoria by Jungkook that she did a few years ago since I love that song and I think her voice suits that style of song really well.

I always kinda thought of Yoohyeon as "lyric" type and Siyeon as the spinto or soprano sfogato. Not in equiv opera type ranges, but just vocal types, like in tessitura or timbre.

10:31 the word that little mix (jesy at that point in the song) sings is "homeless." when jason does his verse he sings "hopeless," so technically both words are part of the official lyrics of the original song. have you heard morissette amon's cover of this same song? she does an absolutely amazing job as well with her own flare, but i am still quite partial to little mix doing it themselves(sls part 2) because the emotion in their voices just takes it to that next level. linking their 2018 jingle bells ball performance because it is absolutely iconic! mixer luv

Secret Love Song is - if I am not mistaken - an LGBTQ anthem, right? Just so you know, Yoohyeon was asked about her ideal partner, and the interviewer then said: "So you like hard working men." Yoohyeon corrected her and said: "I said hard working people. All kinds of people." That is just one of many, many times members of Dreamcatcher have been pro LGBTQ. If you haven't looked into that, there are many videos about that. 😊

I’d definitely say it’s between her and Sua for most emotional delivery. Her pronunciation when singing in English always impresses me. Her speaking as well, considering that’s usually more difficult.

I recommend watching their performance of "Just Give Me a Reason" (by Yoohyeon, Dami, Sua, Gahyeon), it's from their concert so it's live. It's one of my favorite performance that shows Yoohyeon's vocals. (mbjarne's fancam has the best audio and perf quality for me if you decide to check it out)

Yay finally Yoohyeon! When you have a vocal powerhouse like Siyeon in the same group, it's unfortunate that Yoohyeon's vocal abilities kinda gets under appreciated. This video was the one that sealed the deal for me in picking a bias. I immediately fell in love with the emotions in her voice. Only sad part is she didn't cover the full song. I can't wait for your full vocal analysis of Yoohyeon's live vocals! Maybe you can include the clip from their recent vlive stream too, as she and Siyeon did short covers of a couple of songs. I feel like Yooheon gets a decent amount of attention and love from the fandom. Being the second main vocalist in a group with Siyeon is a bit like being the 2nd-biggest group behind BTS. You can be brilliant but new fans will probably always latch onto Number 1 first and then start noticing you once they broaden their horizon as they get more involved. And a huge portion of people who get deep enough into DC are 7 Biases or 1 Bias/ 6 wreckers anyway :)

Yoohyeon is my bias primarily for her voice. I just prefer it. But she has her issues and Siyeon is clearly a technically better singer. She tends to be a little pitchy I've noticed for one thing. Love this cover. She owns it.

I agree Siyeon sometimes doesn't has as much of a emotional delivery but if you haven't already watched it, I'd recommend watching Siyeon singing on the show V-1. The show was like a competition kinda show to find the best vocal and she made it to the final round. She performed three songs Last Love(idk who it's by), Exo - Overdose, and Moon of Seoul(I also don't know who its by) in that order. Last Love is my personal favorite and kinda puts me in the feels LOL. Thank you for all your Dreamcatcher reactions!!!

I don't think she's done this song live, but a good song to check out if you do a voice analysis for Yoohyeon would be her cover of Taeyeon's "I" that she did with Gahyeon during one of their concert tours. I think that is a pretty good representation of her live vocals, though it was from 2017 or 2018 so she has improved a bit since. Still a good one to check out though.

I think you should watch Yoohyeon singing live on her birthday stage. She was singing Euphoria by Jungkook BTS. It's a fancam but I'm sure you can hear her voice so clearly. Koreans have a lot of trouble pronouncing the English "R". Listen to Dami in Boca say 'Shut the door'. It sounds like she's from Brooklyn, which actually may be a good accent for Koreans. Same way Yoohyeon pronounces 'floor' in this song.

I wouldn't say quite the same; Dami's "door" kinda adds an extra syllable (like you say, kinda Brooklyn), while Yoohyeon's sounds more like she's saying "flow". You make an interesting point though, and it's a weird one, because obviously Rs and Ls are sort of interchangeable in Korean due to how ㄹ is pronounced. But I've certainly heard Dami pronounce even a ㄹ in Korean words like it was a W (and I wish I could think of an example right now)... I wonder if she has a slight speech impediment?
