This song is about people forced to relocate in a Stranger’s land; in my opinion the dark clothing represents the sorrow and hardships that they have to go through. The minor theme also reinforces that. I love this song!!

The song message is basically discover new height.. Try new things, do not limit yourself with what you comfortable with.. That is the reason why, it's dark.. Uncharted territory always portrayed as black and dark as it's not discovered yet. People wearing robe and candle, it's mean light along the way.. It's dim but there is path and still light and hope even in the dark pitch black territory. It's nothing about reincarnation.. Even the music gives intense feeling of journey.. Adventure.. Many people listen to this particular song instantly feeling like its an ost for adventure, fantasy kind of movie.. Sailing across the wide ocean.. Go through uncharted territory. Also u should notice at the end of the first phrase, Dimash moves like he is stumbling.. That also got meaning.. It's mean his feet touch a new ground.. A new place unbeknownst to him.. He confuse but still moves forward.

@@LuciaSinatra unfortunately, not every path is bathed in light and positivity. Just as you, yourself, have experienced some “blocks” even during this reaction, Dimash too has had difficulties. Critics - qualified or not - and this global pandemic have plagued Dimash’s journey and periodically darkened Dimash’s mood. The visuals for Stranger are perfect for the message. Light at the end of the tunnel, New birth. Renewal of faith and energy. I appreciate your efforts to understand, but maybe your experiences are different and you just haven’t yet recognized the difficulties reflected in the nuances of this performance. It would be lovely if there was no darkness anywhere, but it is reflective of reality. If you’re seeking light, Dimash’s Ave Maria (another song from Igor Krutoy) may be something you’d appreciate a bit better.

This is my reading of this 3 songs. - Stranger, Fly Away and Ave Maria... This "trilogy", these three songs are closely related, and taken together, they close the circle of life. ''Stranger'' symbolise birth. This performance is full of symbols. Everything - the music, his voice, his movements, lyrics, the whole staging, the lights, the slowly moving light circle behind Dimash at the very beginning, absolutely everything you see and hear symbolise the whole birth process, from the beginning to the end. At the beginning 9 man and 9 women carry candles /the small light of life/. They hide Dimash. Why are they 9? Well, guess for yourself. A large stream of light begins to swirl behind Di when he appears. He emerges from this circle and begins to move slowly past the nine women and men. He reaches the center of the stage, where there is the same luminous circle, indicating that he is still in the womb. When he sings in the low register, pay attention to the lyrics... ''Somewhere in my heart in ancient times I wandered Through these valleys I have climbed among these hills Faces from a past I’m haunted by their mem’ries Lives and loves I’ve lost I feel them in me still''.... He still carries the memories of all his past lives. He has not been born yet. His high notes in the middle of the song, the sounds and the melisms he makes with his voice and which impresses everyone, symbolise labor pains and mother's cry. During this cry, he begins to bend his body to the left and right. And the heavy drum beats, which constantly change its dynamics and intensity, resemble the unstable pulse of the mother. Then the candles go out. The drums stop and you feel calm and relaxed. Notice, his hand is on a fist. The fist punch he makes, that is the moment he was born. The stage goes on fire, he steps forward from the center /the "womb"/ and appeared to the world. His longest note at the end symbolise his very first breath. It means I ARRIVED. === Fly Away symbolizes the earthly path we pass through. White symbolizes life. We are obliged to live this life as soon, as we were born, but we are not obliged to live it as a slaves to a perfect system /matrix/ designed to serve one's needs. Beneath the spinning globe, Dimash is the only one who enters the stage walking. The rest are creeping zombies. The rotating globe all the time in the background shows the scale of this matrix. Dimash is frustrated by insincere human relationships, lies and false kindness. Everything around him is flawed and distorted. This perfect and convenient system, destroys the human in man. He desperately wants to break the shackles that suffocate him and live in his own way, not to be controlled and limited. He desperately wants to fly and find the sincere love that everyone needs. At the end of the song, he moves away from this matrix and he just watches the zombies awakening, just before they die. /3:20 the dance/ Notice how this dance ends... Everyone falls to the ground, lined up next to each other, with their hands raised, like tombstones. The horizontal position of the body means crossing the line of life. You all already know what song comes next - the last part of this magnificent trilogy, Ave Maria - the angelic voice that leads you to Heaven. === AVE MARIA - Angels do not need lyrics to enter your soul. In fact, the lack of lyrics makes the song universal and unique and it allows everyone to feel and understand Ave Maria, according to their beliefs and religion. Dimash is real angel..

Yes, I absolutely agree with you about the point of the song STRANGER. The song deals with the theme of reincarnation. It's actually pretty clear if you look at the text carefully. Dimash sings of places where he has been ages ago, of lives and loves that he once lost, but which still live in him. And about the chance to start AGAIN, to find out more and more who he really is. To do this, of course, he has to create a darker scenery, because it is about past times or lives. The light that is shown behind him is actually supposed to symbolize the step out into a new life, i.e. the birth. For me the songs are: STRANGER FLY AWAY AVE MARIA in context, a trilogy, to be seen. They express the past, present and future.

I actually think that makes more sense than some of the more detailed theories I've seen presented here. It certainly simplifies a theme a lot of us have been trying to make more complex. This song for me had the correct visuals and dynamics and reflects all of Dimash's performances of all the songs he sings and therefore appropriate. In the context of this "Stranger" who finds himself in an unknown place/ foreign land, 'He' has initial great apprehension and a little scared of what might happen in the future. Being a stranger in this way does evoke dark and until the light of change occurs might well turn out that way. There is also a potential conflict in the "Strangers" own identity and how that may allow to "find his way".

These aren't the same lyrics that Dimash sang when he performed the song. He eliminated the songwriter's parts about fire, blood and spirits. Perhaps he agreed with you that the original lyrics were a bit darker than he wished. I believe the composer might have written this composition based on the novel “Stranger In A Strange Land” by Robert Heinlein. The novel follows an alien from Mars who comes to Earth and chronicles his reaction and journey. This might explain the costumes, etc.
