The best thing about this song: even without knowing their powers, you can hear them in their singing. Pepa: she has to remain happy and upbeat, or else she’ll cause another hurricane. Dolores: With sensitive hearing, she never raises her voice, preferring to almost rap and slow sing than belt. Camilo: as a shapeshifter and an impression comedian, his voice is the most expressive. Isabela: as the bride to be and firstborn daughter, she has to be as perfect and dainty as the roses and other flowers she makes.

The beginning of the song is so secretive and "quiet", cause Mirabel is prying into it and investigating. By the end of it, with everyone singing their parts and prophecies together, it all sounds like a hurricane of bad omens, like Mirabel opened the Pandora's Box by bringing the name "Bruno" up. I love it.

For now, Disney seems to be leaning heavily on song writers with musical theater backgrounds. You’ve got two major sources: • Lin Manuel Miranda who wrote In the Heights and Hamilton did songs for Moana and did most of the song writing on Encanto. • Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the married couple who wrote Avenue Q and the music for The Book of Mormon. They’ve written songs for Frozen, Frozen 2, WandaVision, Coco, and contributed lyrics to Encanto.

What's kind of fascinating is that the family's last name is Madrigal, and this performance is basically a modern Madrigal, each family member getting their own little piece, and then combining them all in the grand finale. :D Additionally, Dolores, who does the whisper singing, is really awesome, because she gets essentially the Bass-line of the music, and in the section just before the townsfolk are singing about fish, weight, and hair, in the "We Don't Talk About Bruno" section, she actually doesn't start singing the sentence until a few beats after everyone else, which is why her "No-NoOoOoO!" has a flair that sticks out. Also, the dancing is an important part of this song as well, and honestly, this family didn't need magic. They would still be a beloved family of dramatic performers and I would pay money to see them, lol.

@E_btsot7982 жыл бұрын
What I love aboug each song is the lyrics aren't the only message in the song.... if you look deeper the true messages come to light.. Like in We don't talk about Bruno each person Mirabel goes to when learning about her Tio bruno the memories conveyed to her are misconstruded memories because Bruno gave most individuals terrible/horrible preminitions (Bruno's power is to see into the future) and these visions although terrible ended up happening just as he said they would but with the context surrounding them is left out when Bruno revals his visions he only truly sees a snapshot of the total vision unless he looks deeper into the vision... which in the beginning he didn't But with his family Camilio (the kid who could shapeshift) he was young when bruno dissapeared so of course his memories of his Tio Bruno would change as he grew up because the town he lived in and his family stopped talking about Bruno even stopped saying his name effectively shunning Bruno from existence and when he was mentioned in the beginning it was in hushed tones around the family and anyone who knew bruno so of course Bruno in Camilio's memories would be a vilinized version of Bruno... And with Delores (her powers was that she could hear a pin drop from a long distance away) Bruno's visions for Delores were heartbreaking, because she was in love with her Cousin's boyfriend who was arriving for the dinner in the song we don't talk about bruno... she sings "he told me that the man of my dreams would be just out of reach betrothed to another, it's like I hear him now... i can hear him now!" Which is so sad because her lines are underlined with Isabella's lines overtop so it's kinda hard to hear Delores unless you really listen for her voice....

@TNJenni422 жыл бұрын
yes, it's all about the singers POV, Pepa and Felix were grown up and had many memories of Bruno before he went into hiding, Delores and Isabella were young teenagers so have some firm memories of Bruno. Camilio and Mirabel were both just 5 when Bruno left so their memories of Tio Bruno are murky and have faded especially since nobody talks about him.
@yutisima2 жыл бұрын
yeah and Dolores' "I can hear him now" comes right before camilo's "Isabella, your boyfriend's here!", like she heard him coming even, but he came for Isabella ALSO yes, Camilo's version of the story is very villianizing on Bruno because, as I understand it, Bruno left when Camilo was around five years old, so most of the things he heard about him were bad, exagerated, evil things. It plays great when it comes to the contrast between Dolores and Camilo's part, because they're the ones who sympathise and villianize the most, respectively. Example: Dolores sings "It's a heavy lift, with a gift so humbling" (his gift was a burden) / Left the family fumbling "grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand, do YOU understand?" (meaning he was misunderstood by his whole family l, and he's asking her if SHE can understand him) But Camilo: "Seven foot frame" (Exageration as he's one of the shortest of the family) "Rats along his back, when he calls your name it all fades to black" (he literally talks as if you die if he talks to you lmao) "he feasts on your screams" (again, villianized) it's quite an interesting point in how they managed to bring their raising to play a part of how differently each one remembers him. (ALSO and now I finish, notice how even if Camilo's memory is the most extreme and accusing, he sings almost theatrically and even mocking, as if he didn't take it seriously, part because he's young and partially because even if he's been fed this version all his life, he's the only one who hasn't been affected by his prophecies. Everyone else talks about him with caution and almost fear because they have been told one of Bruno's prophecies)

1. The colorful river that they show us in the movie is a real river, is called Caño Cristales. It is known as the most beautiful river in the world. 2. In Luisa's song, when the second verse begins, Luisa and Mirabel fall into a coffee grinder 3. The plates where Bruno's visions are seen, are emerald. Colombia is the largest exporter of emerald in the world. 4. All the gifts of the family represent something Colombian. Pepa represents the country's varied and rare climate. Camilo the variety of races and ethnic groups of the country. Dolores gossip. Antonio biodiversity. Isabela the flora. Juliet the gastronomy. Luisa the work of the Colombian, could we say (? 5. All the clothes you see in the movie, including hats, are cultural from all over the country. That is why it is disrespectful to us that Disney sells it. 6. Candles represent a lot in our culture, in fact we have a day dedicated to lighting candles. Hence why the candles in the movie. 7.The palma de Cera that is mentioned in Isabela's song, and seen throughout the town, is the national tree of Colombia, and is the largest type of palm in the world. 8. The yellow butterflies represent one of the novels by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a Colombian literature Nobel Prize winner. 9. Violence in Colombia is a very big issue, which continues to be experienced to this day. In the grandmother's past we can see Forced Displacement. Colombia is the country with the most internally displaced people in the world. 10. And the flower parade. Ik that u already mentioned the biodiversity but, flowers are almost an icon as well as the parades of the “silleteros” or the flower’s parade, something very traditional here. Also the small village, it looks like a typical old village from the department (or state) of Antioquia

I love the dynamics of these songs. A very Broadway, musical theater style (obviously). I think I might be the only one who wasn't a huge fan of the movie 😬 maybe I need to watch it again.

My beverage that I’m drinking today is oxygen. It’s probably bad for me since it’s one of the most electro negative elements on the periodic table, but it’ll be fine.

I found it refreshing too. They layers make me think of Les miz, Mozart operas and Phantom of the opera but in a way that the casual listener can enjoy. I also loved the lower female registers for leads because it’s about time! We need love for the powerful vocals of lower tones. I would also like to see more counter tenors around.

I'm having orange juice and tonic water this morning. If you've never tried them together you should definitely do that sometime. It's so refreshing. I love the songs from Encanto and had fun watching you react to this bop. 🥰

Okay! I literally l0ve the vibe up in here! Here is one jott'd down from 2015: (went though my personal scribblings but couldn't find it anywhere :( ) 'Bruno' may or may not have had a premonition about... Bruno: or how he might end up being perceived by the world at a later stage when word has gotten around... as it inevitably does! ;) short, concise, precise: 'Unfresh dude of Väsby' Now! Where's my poncho!
