Gentlemen, You just reacted to my personal favorite, so I will gush unapologetically. The other fans will say 'OK, here he goes again', but anyway: You have seen her before, so what did you expect? She does her own arrangements. Watching Sohyang IS a unique form of beautiful agony. She reaches out and utterly captivates you until she lets you go. A studio recording is great, but she MUST be seen and watched carefully. She is also a talented actress (The Sound of Music) who tells the story with every song. If you take your eyes away, you WILL miss something amazing. She takes on a sassy stage presence for this Classic song - when she tugged up that slinky blue gown and slid across the stage like a sultry Blues Singer in a 1940s movie, I melted into my chair. In this intimate gift from Sohyang, she is at times; cute, glamorous, beautiful, playful, intense, dramatic, friendly, happy, serious, connected, and energetic. All of that, while in absolute control over her voice, the musical arrangement, the stage, and the audience. It is beginning to dawn on you that there IS no one like our lady Sohyang. Welcome. Her cover of 'Misty' from the Begin Again Concerts is something completely different, far more stripped down, showing her pure voice in a jazz standard. For more fireworks, the song 'Everyone' (in Korean and English) is a masterclass in singing. There are many more So Hyang performances to choose from as time goes by.

You guys absolutely need to hear her cover of the song "Everyone". It's an old Korean pop/gospel song from the 60s. It's got a mixture of English and Korean lyrics. She has said in interviews that that performance was the most difficult one she's ever had, and that's for very good reasons. The song is long and technically difficult. But also, the song really resonates with her on an emotional level. It's an absolutely incredible performance.

There is often a defining moment in a video. Here I gotta give it to "But the tone!" episode...LOL. You are so right about "not just the range" comment. However, this reaction will forever be the "Skull Tinkle" video, especially when the tinkle turned into a tremor as Sohyang ascended the scale with the key change.

Need to do a live to all the masked singer ones of hers. Could then edit it way down into a highlight too. Because until you get into those you don't even know yet. There's so many others like this one so few get into those. But when they do they are like wtf. And many that have seen all these main ones end up finding their favorites in there. You must react to Everyone but it MUST have ENG SUBs! Don't even think about doing it without. There is a Vimeo version and at least one other. This is about 7 minutes of masterpiece. Even So Hyang agrees that this was her most difficult performance. I don't think she ever sang it again, and I don't think she should. This performance is enough to stand as a monument to excellence and is more than enough to last for eternity. This was a great reaction to I Have Nothing. Thanks!

Sohyang's singing is shockingly beautiful. If a person has never heard her sing before it is truly a stop and listen moment, and she easily outperforms Whitney Houston. As Sohyang says, "You must be born with a good voice, but then work very hard to improve it." She almost eats, sleeps and breathes music. Here is what David Foster, who wrote the song and produced it for Whitney, had to say about Sohyang in an interview with South Korean media site _Naver_ on December 10, 2018, only a week after doing eight concerts with her at Tokyo's Blue Note Club. “I wanted to meet her very much, and I am delighted to have collaborated in putting together a concert. Here is how I got to know about Sohyang. Oprah Winfrey introduced me to 'a stunningly amazing singer whose video is a must watch.' I fell in love at once with Sohyang's first video I watched on KZbin, 'I Have Nothing.' It was _thrilling,_ and I searched to listen to most of her other songs as well. I have wanted to meet her for a long time. She is one of the top divas I've come across." David Foster didn't hold back praise. Sorry hubby, but you can be so distracting and annoying at the movies! 😝 Sohyang likes action movies! She carries her Bible with her most places. It is an English New International Version and she tries to read five chapters a day, because it helps her stay fresh on her English. Oh yes, Sohyang wanted to be involved in musicals on stage but was offered the role of Carmen, which she turned down because Carmen was a prostitute. It sounded like she was offered prostitute roles repeatedly, so she more or less gave up on anything operatic. Though, of course, she did appear in "The Sound of Music." She is just one of those naturally wholesome women, and I think that is one of the reasons we like her. 😇❤ Sohyang is also analytic to the nth degree! She will listen to a song she likes over and over until she is satisfied she knows it inside out. The bass line, the drums, the vocals. She keeps going until she has almost worn out the recording. Well, she didn't say that last part but it is pretty obvious that she knows her music and when she decides to cover a song, she is going to cover it like it has never been covered before! I don't think she can outperform Whitney on her prime. Obviously sye has autotune compared to Whitney so raw ang natural voice to make her voice more beautiful ang clean. Yes, Sohyang has the range but Power Whitney wins more than on that area. That's my opinion.

@@nichollojay6312 Uh, where do I start? Autotune? Do you mean on her studio albums or on her stage performances? First, she is too principled to allow Autotune to be applied to her God-given voice. She barely allows Reverb to be used and that's for total effect when performing with a Band and Backup Singers. But, ignore that. Power? Not even worth discussing. She can be seen moving the Microphone away from her mouth to avoid distorting the sound. This is testified to by her performances outside, in all kinds of weather, when the wind can be heard blowing into her Microphone. Pitch? Sohyang's Pitch is so perfect and her Power so pronounced that she delivers those sounds in a Mixed Voice. Want proof? Search for some videos that were recorded on a Cell Phone or a Fan Cam and listen closely. I doubt that, in her era, Whitney cared if producers used some enhancements 'cause she did not have perfect Pitch. Who was born with it? Only Sohyang. I know. I started to listen to the greatest singers of all time as a 10 year old boy - in 1948. Cheers.

Sorry, she does not “easily outperform Whitney Houston”. Whitney in her prime was absolutely stupendous. That said, I am grateful to have found this fabulous voice. There has been an empty place to be filled since Whitney destroyed her own voice. I do think Sohang is the greatest female singer I’ve heard in a very, very long time! HOORAY!!!!! Here’s my daily double story … in 2019 I was recovering from surgery and decided to check out KZbin since I wasn’t going anywhere! My wife loves Bridge over troubled water and had seen Clay Aiken do it on idol and was enthralled… so I thought I surely can find a better version and came across none other than Sohyang !!!! I’m familiar with Whitney and Celine and Mariah but am mostly a rock guy with some Prince , Elton , and Billy Joel mixed in …. I was blown away so of course I went further and it was this performance…. I was flabbergasted! I thought in that moment as good or better than Whitney…. The next performance I checked out I thought was Sohyang but it was this diminutive Filipina who sang Akin ka na lang !!!! That’s right I discovered Sohyang and Morissette Amon on the same day minutes apart !!! I could not fathom that I had never heard of either and immediately immersed myself in the world of KZbin eventually finding innumerable artists like Dimash , Enrique , KZ , Lara Fabian ect ect …. The people collecting Grammy awards for singing are absolutely not the best in the world …. Those voices reside outside of the west. Popularity is popularity and nothing against it but if there were a WORLD competition with unbiased judging on ACTUAL vocal abilities…. Idk man we would be in trouble. 🤷‍♂️

She had this one performance when she was going through recurring pneumonia a few years back. Her voice wasn't what it used to be and she said later she was thinking about quitting singing altogether. During this time, for what could have been her last public appearance, she agreed to participate in the same TV show and the song she chose was 'You Raised Me Up'. Due to her illness, her voice was kind of raspy and she struggled at times, but this was one of the most inspiring performances she'd ever put on. It's a 7 minutes of emotional roller-coaster of a song. It seemed someone above was looking after her and cheering her on that night. If you haven't yet, you should listen to it. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

I recommend her cover song you raise me up. It’s said at the time of her performance,she was suffering from pneumonia and was unable to use her lungs,so she tried to give up performance, but she performed only to convey her message. It looked like she’s having a hard time singing. But it’s amazing performance. ❤
