What’s really amazing is that Lea Salonga in her 40s, with a much bigger voice and lower placement, can still fully bring it on with a Disney-esque sound and high-quality vocals when many singers have lost it (like the Ariel singer in The Little Mermaid and Belle in Beauty & The Beast).

Really? They didn't rehearse before doing this live? I'm even more impressed! Especially the way Audrey described how they said Lea changed her vocals slightly to match Brad's better during the harmony! Audrey's probably right, that she can just calculate all that in her head instantly as she goes by now. I mean, I can't sing a note, so even bad singing impresses me, but Lea is just mind-blowingly good.

Her name is pronounced LAY-UH, not LEE-UH. I do believe the original song was recorded in 1992. Brad Kane is two and a half years younger than Lea, so I think he was 18 and she was 20 or 21.

Actually there's another version of this video where the first part was Lea & Brad's first ever recording session for this song since i think they were both choosen already (skipped the audition) & just straight to recording. While the second part was this performance. U should've reacted to that version but anyways i enjoyed ur reaction. ;-)

🤔 I figured because he's older, he probably can't hit those higher notes he used to sing. Maybe he tried but found it better if he lowered his voice. Honestly, no fault of his and I'm ok with him singing as is.

The richer voice Brad has gained as he's gotten older sounds fantastic & he would like to stay in that lower register. Lea starts off closer to the original, but hears Brad being hesitant to keep up, so she goes lower so that they can meet in the middle and be comfortable with each other.

I miss the old disney songs.. they are all legends - from A whole new world, to Beauty and the Beast, Paccahontas- colors of the wind.. now the remakes are not that remarkable as to the originals especially the singing voice.. 333

Idk where the whole "Aladdin is middle eastern" came from or how it even got started because alladin isn't middle eastern and even in the Animated movie you could tell that it wasn't middle eastern due to the dress and the buildings it's clearly Indian which is where the original story actually came from also

Not wanting to start beef here or anything, but the tale of Aladdin is from ‘Arabian Nights’ folk tales (hence the opening song, Arabian Nights) and the designers of the animated movie had used Baghdad as inspiration. The original Aladdin was actually Chinese too. The folk tale is mostly attributed to Syria, so that, the book that the story came from, the Baghdad theme and Arabian Nights being the opening song, definitely cements it as Middle Eastern in my eyes. 😊

I've watched each and everyone of the reactors in KZbin. Audrey, you're the best! My attention was totally lost from Lea Salons. I mean Lea is Lea! She's perfect in every details when she sings.
