I used this plug in on a song today. It saved SO much time, and gave a really cool vibe. I used the MIDI function to play the harmonies I wanted. It is a great tool.

problem: all harmonies are so in-synch it sounds robotic; for those looking for what might actually sound more like individuals singing individual harmony parts it would be nice to have those layers' timing functions available in order to stagger each of them slightly in order to achieve a more natural harmonic effect for those who desire to have that option available

1st off, praying for your recovery from surgery. 2nd, that plugin is very impressive. I wonder, however, how taxing it is to the processor? Waves has really come a long way. Good vid. Thx for posting. God bless.

Thank you! Good question. It didn’t seem very taxing in my already jammed session, but I do have a fully decked out m1 MacBook Pro. (Which I have a video about that machine soon)

@@bigacreations @Sallie Morrill I've been using it with ableton live on my pretty basic i5 laptop, through a very basic NI Komplete Audio 1 sound card, used on a live session with no hitches, instant responses to commands... made my 40$ chinese mic sound way better too lol
@MattRichardsEsq5 ай бұрын
I find it just sounds like a vocoder. However, when you get it for around $40, it’s still worth it. It offer more flexibility than most vocoder plugins. And, with a lot of tweaking, you could probably get some fairly natural sounding harmonies.

In most home studios it should be the 2nd plug-in, the 1st being Clarity Vx 😉

Thank you for breaking this down. After watching and experimenting, I have 2 questions: 1. Is there a way for each harmony, during the recording, to be automatically separated onto individual tracks for editing/mixing purposes? 2. The harmonies in this plugin have a very auto-tune sound. How can one make the harmonies sound human and less autotune robotic?

There are several problems heard with such a plugin. 1. it generates its own chord, which may not match the harmonic progression of the arrangement at all. If, for example, you give the plug-in a midi signal, this may be a solution. BUT! 2. The sound is too un-natural. That is, it is an ordinary vocoder, of which there are many. This plugin can be used in the case when the original idea is that the original vocal would not be natural, but "vocoder". Often I try to avoid this sound by recording vocalists with real parts.

@kyju7093 Жыл бұрын
I think part of that is because of the built in auto tune and also because it’s more or less a vocoder on steroids. The “robotic” sound is just a result of the vocoder aspect. Tbh I think it’s awesome but it’s totally subjective and not for every genre

I dunno; you have a beautiful singing voice and your original vocal is on the money. To my mind, the harmonies produced by the plug-in sounded cold and mechanical, mostly just a single note all the way through, and didn't add anything to the track. I think the track would sound really good with you doing the harmonies yourself. Great track, all the same 🙂
