@@Producelikeapro i have been using a TC Voicelive for 10 years and it's become an indispensable part of my show. This is a phenomenal tool when you only receive a certain amount of tracks from an artist! @@Producelikeapro Thank you for your feedback. I just bought this plugin and used it for a few hours. I'm writing new production music albums for some publishers and I installed this plugin on some sources like pulsating bass, pads and many other sound design elements and wow, it's amazing! I think this plugin is really much more than a vocal harmonizer. This opens up a lot of new perspectives in the music production process!

🍀You have created a very good and helpful tutorial. I've only been interested in this plugin for a few hours. So I came across your video more or less randomly. I grew up primarily with the music of the 60s and 70s and therefore have different ideas and preferences in pop music than what mostly flies in your face in the charts these days. I liked your beautiful pop track, for example, and it showed me that this plugin is certainly also very suitable for my music productions. Thanks for that. 🍀

Warren, thanks so much for this! Purchased it right after. I think this will greatly assist with my own demos as having to sing every part from the 2nd to 5th octave for an entire album is as exhausting as it is time consuming! I’ll probably use it to work out complex harmonies as much as using it to create an end product 👍🏻 Thanks so much for always sharing the knowledge and for being such a positive spirit! Neat. On a series I was mixing a foreign language dub for, I did this very thing by hand, adding several pitched layers. Reaper allows you to pitch individual clips as you see fit non-destructively. With this tool(picked it up this morning) I could have it do all the work and I could probably play it like an instrument with midi notes as well. With all the modulation options it's quite the tool for dialogue effects. Nice one Waves, and thank you for the great demos gentlemen.

Thanks for the great demo! I really don't care about this plugin but I found this video to be very entertaining, it made me realise I use the same technique as you Warren. I grab my guitar and figure out the harmonics (even though I don't know if it's 3rd, 5th etc) I'm lucky to have a musical ear that will tell me what's right. As with many other tools, I think this can be achieved with plugins in my arsenal already like Little Alter Boy and advanced warping on Ableton Live.
@5adb0i
@5adb0i Жыл бұрын
Great video! I'm intrigued with this plugin. One thing to note about the reaper user's theory on the notes: When he says the negative 5 is a fourth you have to remember that going a fourth down is the equivalent as going a fifth up (which is like the +7 on the other side). So he has two fifth from the incoming note, just 1 octave apart on opposite sides of the stereo spectrum. They both work together because it's functionally the same note - a perfect fifth. Just in case anyone was confused about the theory part!

Great review Warren, all plugs are just creative tools and I think the best use of this creative tool is to audition harmonies against the existing vocal line and to choose the major, or enharmonic minor of the song key. To be able to instantly try a variety of different harmony ideas without having a background in music theory, is a powerful creative tool for songwriters and studio owners alike. Cubase 12 has 'scale assistant' which is similar at building harmony ideas, but this is even faster.

What a great demo! I just got this yesterday on sale at Waves and love it. The only comment I have is that you left the pitch correction on the source vocal. (Good singer, minor imperfections make it sound more human and the harmony copies will do the same) you have it set to “ natural” perhaps try “off”?

I like your video a lot better than other's because you show how to make these harmony sound more natural. Other's like the daft punk robotic harmonies. That is good for some song's. But my vocal is like neo soul jazz r&b and hip hop. I sing and emcee and like warm full authentic sounds. It's possible and you did it very well in this video thanks

I have been playing with this plugin for a month or so. I do find that it's tweaked ability is good enough to get pretty good sound out of it. To be honest, my criteria is not too stringent when it comes to the sound, so I understand how it is still too artificial for some. I stumbled on a funky little pack that might help on certain harmonies that have a lot of energy in them. I found that some of the frequencies can get overloaded. I've only tried this once, but I think you could get some interesting results from taking a harmonized vocal that you create and waves Harmony and running it through a stem separator, there are plenty of free options, even through bandlab or whatever. The separator will pull some of the frequencies out under the other category or the guitar category or bass category. You can then see how the vocal sounds just on its own and if you want you can easily modulate those extra frequencies in the other or guitar categories, or just leave them out. In the one example that I tried, it separated out some low-end warble that helped clean up the overall Harmony vocal.

Was it me or was the -5 not conforming to the Key of F? When you set a key does it always conform the harmonies to the key? Also are you able to set custom scale notes? for instance. When I harmonize pop vocals I use a drop 7 or drop 4 in the major scale in order to voice tri-tone harmonies. Really only relevant when doing 3 parts.

Seems like a brilliant tool for learning harmonies, it’s like you said Warren unless you have a bit of theory knowledge then you probably don’t know how to work harmonies out. Be great for someone learning that or an engineer who isn’t musically trained. Or maybe a cool effect in pop music. Very cool plug in!

This would have been great for me back in the day! I studied music at college and did theory there and learned all this stuff but it would’ve helped a lot when I was younger and hadn’t a clue how to work this out, it puzzled me for years until I went to college

It's actually not a good tool for learning harmonies because these are static harmonies, at least if you don't use midi. If you want to learn harmonies, learn Alice In Chains songs and sing both parts.

The timing sounds very robotic, but I'd be curious about soloing the individual harmonies, bouncing them to audio, then playing with the audio clip timing slightly.

The ONLY problem is I want a portable harmonizer that HEARS -through midi or audio- and adjusts chords AS THEY COME.....Like the Vocalist........but for an electronic instrument not just vocal range etc ..... ANY IDEAS????

Thanks Warren, and the other lads, for showing this in detail. Blimey, some people here in the comments are weird. It's a tool, you don't HAVE to use it. It's not for me I don't think, but I can absolutely see how it would be really useful for those making a certain style of music. For those pissing and moaning - don't use this tool then. Yeah? I don't understand. Create your music without using this tool. Plenty do. Just say "Nah not for me" and move on.

I would use this to help me find the harmonies (which I suck at) and then I would sing it myself.

Great minds think alike man haha. That's exactly what I was gonna get it for. Once I saw that you could solo the harmonies (to copy them with a live take), I was like "Yarp, adding this to the arsenal".

According to the manual the pitch display is exclusively in semitones and cents. So 5 down would be 5 semitones down from the original. Wouldn't an octave down and a fifth above be 7 down?

Not bad, sounds a lot better than Antares Harmony engine but I still think the very underrated Muvoice has the best sounding artificial harmonies

Comment on the new look. Maybe purple lights underneath aren't the most flattering. Look at your face while you are playing the melody in the beginning and you will see what I mean. The combination of blue/purple lights and that same blue/purple light coming from underneath is pretty unflattering. My two cents. At the bare minimum I think a warmer color would help. Background is its own situation, but be careful how you light yourself in the foreground!

Though I didn't like how it sounds in Warren's track (and some others I've heard so far) I'll buy it if just for singing the harmony lines myself along to the ones it's suggesting and then maybe take it out again. Thx for showing guys.
