The lyrics of this Russian song by Vitas are rather sad, but because this song was already popular in China, Dimash decided to surprise them with a playful version, 3 key changes instead of 1.

This was a very fun an cheeky performance by Dimash. Just flexing his vocals and showing the audience what he could do. Best part was at the end his dad surprised him with a visit and Dimash had no idea he was there. After he thanks the Maestro he glances to the audience and sees Papa Kanat. Time sort of stops as the recognition sets in. He then runs into Dad's arms and lifts him off the ground (a classic show of love from Dimash since he is so much taller than everyone else). They embrace and walk back stage together. Dimash then asks Papa Kanat if his singing was good. The fact that he is so humble and still looking for Dad's approval is priceless. I get all the feels everytime I see it. If the version you watched does not have that you should look for it. It's such an endearing moment.

Dimashtastic, this song is not just showing what he can do. There is a certain interpretation (very perverse) of a rather predatory text about the threat from the world and uncertainty (this is how the author and composer of this song in one person - Vitas - was interpreting it, very destructively, at the beginning). Here Dimash is clearly not afraid of these external threats, he mocks them a little, and his "terrible" big storm in the song is his music, which he can overcome fear and uncertainty and it is - as he says in the song - which will stay after him, more and more. Dimash sings it like as his credo. Equally perversely, with a smile on his face, he interprets All by myself (from whose text and its early interpretations primarily the struggle against suffering and loss emerged).

Dimash said later that if he had known his father was there he wouldn't have shown off so much. I think his Dad's fist pump at the end showed that he didn't mind his son showing off a bit.

You guys, I am really enjoying all your reactions to Dimash. It's hard to find words right? I feel you grasping for any explanation for what to are witnessing, coming up empty really, and then exasperated you try again to describe Dimash's gift? Ability? Talent? None are even close but really there are no words... If you witnessed an Angel descending to earth from the Heavens, could you find words? Dimash really has a gift from God which is undescribable. Let's just leave it at that. I was blessed to find Dimash in March 2020, LOCKDOWN. His music kept me sane through those trying times. You ought to react to the song he wrote for the world about the pandemic. It's uplifting and heartbreaking at the same time. It's beautiful. I'm at a loss for the name at the moment, but it shouldn't be to hard to find it. There are 2 versions.. both are nearly the same but I remember a difference of some kind. Anyway you'll love it. He recorded it in a really small room. Along with his vocals is a video compilation of scenes around the world of the pandemic impact, and was shocking and heart wrenching but hopeful and loving. Again I'm also trying to describe the undescribable. I'll leave it here.

What I love about that performance is you can SEE his head shaking from the vibrations of his voice and how you can HEAR how thinly his vocal cords are being stretched to hit those notes, also how he was being fun and flirty with the crowd fully engaging them. That smile of his is everything. There was a buildup to those notes however it was just kind of like a quick slide up into it. You can see before he does it that he does take a deep ass breath lol.

The audience judges already know the 10 year old song as it's famous in the region by it's originator, Vitas, who has some damn high vocals too. So the audience know it well. Their excitement was that he was taking it up higher than Vitas. Also Dimash's timbre of voice is quite different from Vitas. I recently listened to Vitas do Skyfall....whaaat! amazing!!
