That is an extremely difficult and lengthy arrangement and these guys achieved what very, very, very few in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD could pull off-- And, It was incredibly entertaining, lyrical, musical, and an absolutely wonderful performance. Thanks VS guys!! Don't listen to the naysayers-- they just can't fathom, let alone appreciate, all that goes into performing a medley like this and in the way you all consistently do! LOVE YOUR MUSIC!

Didn't say others can't do it... of course they can.... but don't think they can execute it at the high level of musicality, expression, artistry and showmanship at which VS performs it.

CONGRATS GUYS! That was a fantastic performance, the huge ovation at the end a testament to your talent even when under the weather. Despite difficulties and a couple of mistakes, both the tenor and lead experiences voice cracks and difficulty in the higher register, that was a fantastic performance that demonstrates your true talent as a quartet. I mean this honestly when I say that even when performing like this you are still one of the best quartets in the world. Honestly, I couldn't believe how the lead kept going given the enormous strain the arrangement was putting on him. Congrats to the bass and bari too, for keeping it all on track - I'm a bass and I know how it can be keeping a quartet on the right lines.

wow it was a pretty long comment huh... I just wanted to counter some of the nasty comments I was seeing. I've had personal experience when a live barbershop performance goes wrong and it really feels shitty, especially if people are immediately critical.

I wrote this out from listening (to a different performance of the same song) but I don't think there are any mistakes. Towards the end I couldn't make out a couple of things though, which are clearly marked. Thumbs up if this was useful! As-Salaam and good day to you! Do you want to hear the story of Aladdin and his lamp? A desert tale of a young boy, a princess he loves, and a genie who makes all his wishes come true. Oh I come from a land, from a faraway place Where the caravan camels roam Where it's flat and immense And the heat is intense It's barbaric! But hey, it's home. When the wind's from the east And the sun's from the west And the sand in the glass is right Come on down, stop on by Hop a carpet and fly To another Arabian night Arabian nights Like Arabian days More often than not are hotter than hot In a lot of good ways Arabian nights 'Neath Arabian moons (so bright the desert moons) A fool off his guard could fall and fall hard Out there on the dunes So, gotta keep, One jump ahead of the breadline One swing ahead of the sword I steal only what I can't afford (That's Everything!) One jump ahead of the lawmen That's all, and that's no joke These guys don't appreciate I'm broke (That boy is such a lousy) Riffraff! Street rat! Scoundrel! Take that! Just a little snack, guys Rip him open, take it back, guys Gotta steal to eat, gotta eat to live Otherwise we'd get along, wow wow wow! Wa-ha-ha... Well Ali Baba had them forty thieves Scheherezad-ie had a thousand tales But master you in luck 'cause up your sleeves You got a brand of magic never fails You got some power in your corner now Some heavy ammunition in your camp You got some punch, pizzazz, yahoo and how Well all you gotta do is rub that lamp And I'll say Mister Aladdin, sir What will your pleasure be? Let me take your order, Jot it down You ain't never had a friend like me (oh yeah) Mister Aladdin, sir, have a wish or two or three I'm on the job, you big nabob You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend You ain't never had a friend like me (oh my wa-ha-ha, no not a friend like me) Now, Make way for Prince Ali Say hey, here he comes! Ring bells! Bang the drums! Are you gonna love this guy! Prince Ali! Fabulous he! Ali Ababwa Genuflect, show some respect Down on one knee! Now, try your best to stay calm Brush up your sunday salaam Then come and meet his spectacular coterie Prince Ali! Amorous he! Ali Ababwa Heard your princess was a sight lovely to see And that, good people, is why he got dolled up and dropped by With sixty elephants, llamas galore With his bears and lions A brass band and more With his forty fakirs, his cooks, his bakers His birds that warble on key Make way for Prince Ali! - We're half way done - Woooooow, waaaaa, oooo. I can show you the world Shining, shimmering splendid Tell me, princess, now when did You last let your heart decide? Oh, I can open your eyes Take you wonder by wonder Over sideways and under On a magic carpet ride A whole new world A new fantastic point of view No one to tell us no Or where to go Or say we're only dreaming A whole new world A dazzling place I never knew But when I'm way up here It's crystal clear That now I'm in a whole new world with you A whole new world (A whole new world) That's where we'll be (That's where we'll be) A thrilling chase A wondrous place For you and me (I can show you those) unbelievable sights! Arabian nights, Like Arabian days Much more often than not are hotter than hot In a lot of good ways (?such days and nights?) Arabian nights, 'Neath Arabian moons (the shining desert moon) A fool off his guard could fall and fall hard Out there on the dunes (such days) So ?many? many ways Unspeakable sounds (unspeakable sounds) Arabian nights and sights Stars so bright (under those) Wonderous Arabian Nights!

They don’t seem to be in the key written during “A Whole New World” sounds low to me. But honestly the change in timbre is so nice in the key 😍 nice recovery guys! THAT TAG WAS OFF THE CHAIN
@ZipplyZane Жыл бұрын
It sounded low to me, too. But then I checked on piano, and they sing it in G-flat and then G, which are both higher than the original which is in D and F. I think it's more the arrangement is lower at first, to give them room to take it up in the second part. I do miss the smooth modulation in the original, though. But it was probably considered too slow for a medley.

I don’t see anything wrong with this performance I thought it was great, what were the things they could’ve done better? They RANG chords out there extremely well and Tim of course is always awesome, nailed the post, it was just an awesome performance all around. THAT to me was Vocal Spectrum, not “they can do better” they did GREAT.
