@@Producelikeapro is there a way of doing this with one click? As in is there a way of making this so all you have to do is drag and drop on the vocal track and it is done? Thanks! This was an amazing way of adding thickness to the vocals!

Studio One is making a huge diference in my workflow. It is much more creative has a fast think and act and sounds very good. I went to it from cubase and sonar, and it just have been great. I also watch people working with pro tools and have aways the feeling they are very slow to build their stuffs on the mix process. And it does not seem to be working fast and with no bugs as studio one does. They are doing very well, from a multi DAW user perspective. I'm a composer, producer and mix engineer, someone who spend the holle week studing and working with music and audio from the last 4 years. I'm a huge fan of the work presonus is doing, and this is not a paid propaganda, I'm not having monney on my pocket from these words.

It doesn't matter how much you think you know about Studio One, there is always something to learn or be reminded of. For me this time it was assigning the folder to the BUS. Great presentation very nicely presented. Glad to see you are maintaining Warren's high standards, thanks! Nice song as well :-) 43 thumbs downers don't know how to use a computer, let alone record with it. As with the demonstration song, this works beautifully with a very close intimate voice.

"I hope this was helpful"????? Are you kidding me?? This was BRILLIANT!!!!!! I have been creating separate tracks, panning left/right and then "doubling" my vocals and we all know that's not exact. I will watch this a hundred times because I didn't see where you created folders and I will need to find out the what, where and also millisecond values to use are located. I'm on Studio One 5. While I have recorded, I am a complete newbie to home recording myself. Yes-its addicting!! Thank you so much. Did I write that this video was "Brilliant"? BRILLIANT!! Subscribed!

Thank you very much for the tip. I was just wondering though, my "background" vocals have a very phaserish sound and I'm using Ableton. That was quite the tutorial. The sound difference between the 'thickened' and 'un-thickened' playback was pretty stark. The sound got much fatter. This may cure some of the hollow sound issues I'm trying to have with my vocal recordings. I'm a 1970's guy fairly new to computer recording. I get lost sometimes. This was easy to understand. Thanks again!

Recently upgraded to the SO3 Professional. I'm really enjoying the flexibility and even new/unknown things this DAW has. I purposely chose not to deal with ProTools just because I'd heard many people "claiming" you were not serious about recording or music if you were not using it. (I'm not a huge fan of CROWD FOLLOWING, especially if there is another legitimate and reasonable way to do a task.) The specs and previews I read on the original SO, as it was coming out, intrigued me greatly! And I must say that even as a novice I'm getting very good results with this DAW and again, the improvements in version 3 has made other known companies sit up and take notice! I truly appreciate this video as it will increase my knowledge on this to get me closer to pristine recordings once they're professionally mastered. Keep up the GOOD WORK!!!!!!!👍🏾

As you mentioned at the end of the video, Studio One is really catching fire with a lot of folks. (Me for one) Essentially because S1 has really done a wonderful job with all manner of "Drag & Drop" techniques to do what other DAW's have to use file, sub folder and a lot of manual typing in to make changes. So S1 becomes a HUGE time saver for work flow. I'm sure you noticed that as he created folders, hid the numerous tracks and just worked directly with the Vox pitched bus he created almost all at the same time with just a few clicks and a little typing. Another wonderful feature of this DAW especially when dealing with phase issues like overheads on drums and mics on drums. In the track view you can highlight the "Event" or range I think in PT...then press alt and use the mouse to actually move the audio wav file inside of the event. Thus eliminating the need to move the actual track and then do other adjustments. If you're working in say "Grid Mode" but need to just slightly move one audio wave a slight bit to fix phase alignment this is huge. S1 also has what's called "The Inspector" (exampled extensively in the video) which allows for finite adjustments of your volume levels, time stretch, effects and automation. All of these little things, make what is a tedious and often painful process in other DAW's quick simple and most importantly ACCURATE. Great video again and thanks so much for sharing Warren and David.

Really useful tutorial, this. Thanks for sharing Warren and David. I've started using vocal thickening on my own mixes and have been pleased with the results so far. My next struggle is with reverb. I can never seem to get the right kind of reverb sound that I want with vocals. I had a plug in that I liked and could get a nice short, soft tail to go with the vocal thickening, but then realized after some time, that the plug in was actually messing with the vocal position in the stereo spread. I was constantly fighting with the position, especially when I'm trying to blend two vocals together, each with their own "space" in the mix. I've tried multiple plug ins, including some well known and well respected ones, and still can't get it quite right. I'd love to see -- and hear -- a session just on reverb with vocals. It seems so easy. Everyone does it. And yet, I find it to be much more complicated than it appears to be on the surface. Cheers.

Wow, complicated, but actually simple. Can't wait to try. Thanks. Not everyone has a great voice, very few do, just singing in key is a challenge for many. Went to a Jimmie Hendricks tribute 2019, and they had many folks sing, only Johnny Lang stood out, far above the others as having a great natural voice. Like night and day.

Thanks, Warren and David for doing this for S1 users. More, please! It is honestly so helpful. Especially for people who aren't all that familiar with a lot of tech language. It makes it difficult to translate your lessons to a different DAW when you are not sure what a particular thing even is. Of course, I know it 'is ultimately up to the person learning to gather this info, but it's not always easy when there is the assumption that everybody already knows. The fact is a lot of us don't know. An example would be the term mix buss. I only recently found out what that was. So something as basic as that was a source of confusion. And blah blah blah I talk too fucking much. Thanks for all your help!

It would be awesome to have a Studio One run through and how-to that you do with all your equipment and stuff. I've been starting to use Pro Tools in classes for my degree but the layout and visual emphasis of how Studio One uses audio is a lot better for me personally to understand how I'm effecting the sound wave. If you could do more studio one stuff it would be amazing! Especially on PC like how David had it!!

I have Studio Pro version 4.6.x. To allow individual track settings for the 'Tune' parameter, I had to set the Timestretch option to 'Solo - Elastic Pro Monophonic Format' for all of the 8 'VOX Pitch ' tracks. Otherwise, any change to either track's Tune parameter propagated to all of the other 7 tracks.

Pretty awesome that the same result would take up minimal processing power just with a few tweaks here and there! Watch your videos all the time Warren here in the UK just getting into the logistics of mixing. Much like music theory it is cool to know so that you can improvise later once you read the lingo!

Great video here! Maybe you should also have pointed out for inexperienced engineers watching this video that the "PAN" in the Studio One console is infact a BALANCE fader (Vol for L+R channels) as unfortunately there still is no DUAL PAN on the console. On stereo tracks this would make a big difference.

Really cool letting a viewer do a tut on your channel! Btw in Fl studios 12 there is a special time stretching algo that doesn't change the pitch with speed and also doesn't change the speed when pitching up and down when pitch shifting. Sounds very unreal on a vocals speed up lol. It was one of the first new features when FL 12 came out.

Produce Like A Pro FL12 is pretty powerful. Very focused on fast work flow and giving you abilities to do what whatever you want. Especially when it comes to automation and the sound. There's an ugly rumor that it has a built in limiter which is a lie. The default template puts a limiter on the master which you can get rid of as any plug in. It's a very underrated DAW because of the DAW WARS and false information being spread. At the end of the day it's all about which DAW works best for you instead of which is the best in the world.

Produce Like A Pro I just went to my dynamic EQ (first tut video) and saw a comment you left 3 mounths ago (waiting for review since i chose approve before posting and I approved it) . KZbin didn't notify me for some reason. But yea in that video is one of the of the cool things you can do. I might do a UAD VS Waves LA-2A shoot out. I got the Apollo twin usb and compared UAD to waves LA 2A. The harmonic output saturation in UAD for the LA-2A is alot more non-linear and the gain knob isn't poppy like waves CLA-2A. Right now the UAD LA-2A is $99 and i got it for $24 with the march coupon and my regestration coupon. Comes with 3 version and the legacy version comes free with apollo (legacy version has no output saturation).

Hi Warren, David, thanks for great video! I'd been trying to recreate the vocal doubling effect in Sonar X3 from Warrens original vid and have now had success thanks to David's tips. I was able to do the Pitch shift direct in Sonar and used Melodyne (built in to Sonar) to do the delays. I'm really pleased with the results. Thanks again to both of you!
