In case you do not know marcelito's story....... Marcelito's father was incarcerated and his mother abandoned him on the streets of a city of poverty at age 7! From 7 yrs old, he was homeless and struggled to stay alive. He would sing to comfort himself when he was afraid and alone. He would clean chicken coups for small amounts of money and he sang to the chickens. With all of that, he remained kind, gentle and humble. This song, the prayer, although not written for him, tells his story....please, God, keep me safe, find me a place and for wisdom when I do not know what to do. When he sings, it is not just his beautiful voice that we hear - there is something else about him that grasps people's hearts. His character and spirit fill each song with a magic touch. He has helped me mend part of my own heartaches and issues. He has had absolutely no training of any kind and is self taught. He is able to sing all genres of music, in 6 different languages and with all different male and female vocals.

Vocalissima, I have made this comment before and would like to share it with because of your in-depth analysis. Here is it. I have a theory: Marcelito, is, of course, gifted with an unbelievably beautiful voice, but it is his BRAIN that can MEMORIZE exactly what he HEARS and his marvelous voice allows him to recreate it PRECISELY, even female voices, minute inflections in other singer's voices, and in accurate pronunciation of foreign languages. His face at the end was because he was teased about his high voice from one of the engineers & he was spitting it out. I’ve never had heard a voice like this & with the talent that he has. Realmente este hombre es supersorprendente, primero te sorprende los timbres de voz y el enorme registro que tiene, pero después cualquier profesor de canto se sorprende aún más cuando se entera que ésto lo ha conseguido sin ningún tipo de ayuda... ¿Qué no habría sido capaz una persona como ésta de haber tenido un profesor que le hubiera ayudado durante su formación? Eso es algo que jamás sabremos, pero está claro que es todo un artista

I wish you had english subtitles. I had the great privilege of meeting and watching him live in concert in June of 2019 in Toronto. Watching him live was like an out of body experience. La verdad es que Marcelito tiene una voz masculina preciosa. Ya sé que no se puede hablar de registro de soprano en un hombre, pero en sus agudos, su timbre es más femenino que el de muchas mujeres; no se trata sólo de los agudos, es otra cosa. Como bien dices, si esto lo escuchas en la radio, apuestas claramente a que es una mujer la que está cantando.

Your reaction to Mr. Marcelito Pomoy singing The Prayer is too much focused on his voice and the technique he uses to achieve the quality of his vocal performance which, to my opinion is just 50% because the other 50% is due to beautiful Italian Song that eventually resulted to an amazing musical performance. The Italian Song is so much beautiful in itself and whosoever try to sing the The Prayer will enevitably come up with an amazing performance. It is the song, The Prayer, that actually made the performance amazing and that the vocal coaches are simply emotionally surprised. Italian Songs and Music are beautiful especially the people.
