I simply adore Lisa Gerrard. I feel like DCD and Lisa are such big parts of my creative life and have inspired and informed my Artwork through the years. This interview was like sitting down and having tea with her and just talking about music and philosophy. So soothing and cozy. Thank you for this interview✌🏼🌸🦋🎨💚😊

I find it interesting that Lisa refrains so firmly from calling her music "spiritual", but just a bit later when explaining what spirituality means to her, she uses the same terms some people use when they describe her music - moving you somewhere else, giving a sense of connection to something greater, abstract, powerful, in a moment of extreme sensitivity. I see a connection with what she says later in the interview - that she hears her music differently than her audience and doesn't see all these things that people find there so often

Very fine talk. Thank you Lament of Hope. Thank you Lisa for part of the soundtrack to so many people's lives. Glad to have airplayed DCD heavily in Santiago, Chile where I could see DCD twice. Impossible to imagine you'd visit us back in 1989 when I discovered you and DCD and initially picked ADVENT, MOTHER TONGUE and ULLYSES for my playlists. Many more came. Glad I could.

Fascinating and such a great interview. I have loved DCD and Lisa Gerrard's music and voice since 1985. I first heard her voice while sleeping- i kept a college station on as I would fall asleep. I heard her voice and I wok from a dead sleep, hit a tape recorder, (yes actual tape recorder) went to the record store (Wax Trax in Chicago) the next day and played them the recording and said I need to know who this is. Bought my first album Within the Realm of a dying sun and have been a lifelong fan ever since. I always am shocked when people do not know the beauty of their music and her voice. Their musical ability is amazing.

Absolutely amazing interview with an amazing vocalist! As a vocalist and performer myself, I definitely identify with what she said about technical performance of music, which is very methodical, often anxiety inducing and not very spiritual. However, there is a distinct difference between music that is Secular(Outside the Church) and Non Secular(Inside the Church). I was a pastoral musician for many years and trained for many years in the latter. And yes, the technical preparation is the same, but the purpose and intent of Non Secular music, is literally, sung "Prayer" as opposed to Secular music. So when you begin to learn sung Prayer, and you become confident at it, it IS prayer. Secular music, or cinematic music has an entirely different function within a movie. It's purpose is to enhance the scene, tell the story, and elevate the movie. However, it is also quite a different experience listening to music, as opposed to performing it. For the audience, it is often uplifting or emotional and could be spiritual depending on each person's personal experience. Whether religious or not. But great interview, wonderful woman! Thanks for the wonderful interview!

Thank you for this soulful interview, it touched my heart! So intemate, beautiful questions! You asked questions, I would have liked to ask her myself and you gave her a relaxed space . I love the way Lisa answers and uses her words to specify her meaning of things, hearing this gives a key to what I feel but have never put it in these exact word, it open up spaces. Thank you both.

Great and beautiful interview. I really love the open communication and how the subject unfolded towards aspects in the realm of spirituality which for Lisa is just as fluent to express as music and singing. Thank you both for such an enchanting experience.
