VoicePlay does most things themselves, including preliminary mixing. Final mixing by Ed Boyer who mixes for many acapella bands.

Seeing the behind the scenes videos of them creating the final product is really interesting and good fun. Anthony seems to be quite a chilled humble guy and his voice is amazing. My favourite collab by him is Creep. Fantastic. If you're interested, Layne has done a couple of interviews with the Charismatic Voice about how he arranges the music and he's also been interviewed by Peter Barber too. Its so intricate! Great reaction, please look after yourself and all the family 🙂

VoicePlay NEVER makes a bad cover

VoicePlay does almost everything themselves. The VP member who heads a project (in the past usually Layne or Geoff and now sometimes Eli) does the arrangement and video and initial audio mix. Final audio mix for both VoicePlay and Geoff's solo channel is always Ed Boyer, who does audio mix for all of the big acappella groups. VP does their own video editing. Eli usually does the lighting, and digital backgrounds when the project calls for them. The video description credits for this one are: Arrangement and Video - Geoff Castellucci Audio Mix - Ed Boyer Production Manager - Kathy Castellucci Makeup - Renette Feren Steadicam Operator - Andy Montejo Steadicam Assistant - Andrew Cox

If I recall Anthony was not the original cited collaborator on this one, but stepped in last minute because the person they had in mind got ill? It takes some guts to take such a instrument heavy, repetitive song with such an iconic bass riff and try and do it acapella! Thank you to the people who requested it and best of luck to you! 🌹🕊

Anthny was the originally scheduled featured artist for Hoist the Colours, but travel restrictions during Covid stopped him from doing it. I hadn't heard anything about him not being originally scheduled for this one. On the other hand, contrary to my personal beliefs, I am not always right.

@@ilonadever8249 Both are accurate, as far as I recall. Hoist the Colors had to have Eli re-record, taking the parts originally for the featured artist as they were too high for Jose, who took what was going to be Eli's part. I also recall there being a very short turn around for Anthony to learn, record, and then fly down to meet them for filming. But he stepped up and it sounded amazing!

Welcome back, Charlie! Blessings to you and your kids; may the angels light your path forward. Nice reaction. Yes, "Eli," is short for, "Elizer," thus the pronunciation as you noted at the beginning. This is such an amazing arrangement of this song - I love it, especially how the tenors pass the notes back and forth. 💕💕💕
@sudelaine86535 ай бұрын
Minor point: it's actually El-i-e-zer -- 4 syllables instead of 3, which makes the "Ellie" pronunciation more natural. I understand there are three Eliezers in the Bible.

You should check out the Voiceplay loop videos. They show how they do some of their stuff
@daletimberlake81096 ай бұрын
You nailed it Charlie!! The great thing about Voiceplay is that they pass the lead off every 10ish seconds so everyone gets the spotlight and the song never gets boring!! That's what makes them interesting and so easy to listen to. As a VP Patron, we get access to the five individual performance parts where just one performer's vocal is louder throughout the entire song. It's amazing to just listen to "all Geoff", "all Layne", all Eli, etc. And how all the different parts are mixed. Great reaction as always. Hope life events work out for you!

So sorry to hear of your problems. Hope things get better soon for you and your kids' situation! But I'm glad to see more of you! This is one of my FAVE VoicePlay songs now! Anthony is a vocal BEAST!!! Oh, and the Geoffquakes are real, but there are some filters and distortions, and of course mixing, etc, but they also sound great live. Their minis that they do (camera phone format, usually done in the mall where their studio is located) are fun too and they are performing them live (I THINK!) though there is some post-production. They always actually sing when they are performing for their videos so that you have the authenticity you get when you're live, and if you are a vocalist experienced with singing in a group with tight harmonies you can even "see" them listening to each other and working the blend (if that makes any sense) because they actually *are* singing - even though the vocals are pre-recorded.

Thanks for your Voice Play reaction! I hope all works out for you and your family. Yes they have done a few covers with Anthony (their cover of "Creep" with Anthony is amazing!) Anthony and Eli's moms have been friends since they were young. This video was filmed in an abandoned store in the Oviedo mall outside Orlando Florida. It is the same mall that their PattyCake production studio is located and If you click on "shorts" on their channel you will see that they have done many minis/shorts in this mall near their studio. Their shorts are very raw and casual acapella and so much fun as it really showcases their personalities. Some reactors will post a few of the minis since they are so short- I highly recommend "Peaches".

They do the post production, get it pretty well polished, and then send it to Ed Boyer for the final product.

Yes Anthony does a lot of Tik Tok videos with two other people, It varies. He has sung with VP a few times. Golden Hour was the first. He's done some shorts with them too, such as Wellermen. Yes, just check the credits for who did what but I believe the effects are added in the final mix, done by someone else, who does the mix for all the acapella groups. Cant just think of his name. Sorry to hear of your troubles. Stay strong, Life can be hard, I know, but don't let it get you down.

Take care of yourself - your health, mental or otherwise, is more important than our entertainment. I think Anthony's first appearance with Voiceplay was in 'just Sing' which was a fundraiser for artists affected by Covid. Watch it with captions ON for bios and snark. They said in the captions that he had not sung with them yet but they wanted him to.

This video was rather a surprise for me. Layne is not shy about using production techniques on the audio (especially his percussion tracks), so when I first heard the sound on this video I assumed it was Layne's arrangement. But no, this one is Geoff's! His arrangement usually tend to be a little more laid back than Layne's, but he went full out on this one!

Be kind to YOURself, Charlie! Hope things work out with the kids. Thanks for another great VP reaction. Keep 'em coming -- when you can. Time to try some of their lighter, fun stuff: One of my favorites is "Bang!" with a different guest artist, DeeJay Young, whose voice is possibly even more remarkable than the guests you've heard so far. And at some point you'll need to listen to one (or all) of their medleys, like "Wicked" or one of the Disneys.

Lots of compression and reverb on Geoff's low notes, but it was all him producing the note. His ability to go from chest voice to subharmonics in an instant is sort of his thing.
