So, so moving! I am not even the slightest bit religious, in fact I am pretty much anti-religion, but this song always gets me, and this version is simply sublime!

Charlie, It is the anointing. There is much suffering that enters into the black church. The black church has mind blowing testimonies how God did miracles to sustain the people. prayer was the answer then and still is now. We would not have made it if we did not commune with each other in thanksgiving. Taking problems to the alter. This is God's promises coming true and survival caused by revival at its best.

Kate Ceberano is an exquisite talent absolutely on par with Farnsy. She was playing Mary Magdalene here, who was an 'empowered woman, confident in her own sexuality', shall we say. So it is appropriate that you should find her performance seductive, it shows how good she is in this role.

Love your reaction and comments on Dimash singing. He’s truly peerless, the one and only. I love your description of how you are drunk with his voice. I feel the same way. 👍💐

Your comment that Jimi's singing had a drunken sound. Could be. But if you think about it and what he was singing about and his guitar was screaming. Maybe he wanted to sound like he was crying or was desperate.

I first heard this in the early 70's I was about 14. It's still amazing. Maybe the most amazing piece of music I've ever heard.

This song makes me also think of palestinians and the genocide happening. Imagine someone wanting you gone just because you are palestinian, jew, maori, native american etc etc it simply makes no sense to me how humans can be like that to each other.

It's a Roland guitar synth, I think a Roland Gr-300. It has been used extensively by Adrian Belew of King Crimson as well. It's an analog synthesizer, so no samples there. The guitar he plays has separate pickups for every string, so the vibrations of each string can be analysed and translated into control voltages for the actual synthesizer, which is a separate unit.

Loved your reaction. I'm very atheist and live in a predominantly Mormon area where it has been pushed upon me my whole life. People do not understand how I love ALL types of music so much. I don't care if it's religious, anti religious, country, or screaming metal. There's space for all of it in my brain. There's some songs where the lyrics speak to me, but when it's the music that speaks to me.... ohhhh that's something special. I don't care what the words are and half of the time can't even hear the words. But the arrangements, the emotion from the musicians and singers, the intensity, it's just amazing! ❤ Edited to add: just like any group, there are good members and bad. Some of the people I love and respect the most are either LDS or a number of other religions.

I grew up in the church this choir is part of (for those who don’t know they are a part of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) I would hear their broadcasts every Sunday and my parents had cd’s upon cd’s from these guys, the hymn books I sang out of every week for 18 years has a silhouette of that pipe organ on it. This is the first time I’m seeing them since I left 6 years ago. I never realized how special this choir is. Holy cow

Hallelujah to the WORD of GOD! More than about the music, It’s truly about the wonderful Spirit of the living GOD…JESUS! Beautiful! She was one of my Mom’s faves!! That’s how I got familiar with her many years ago. She’s frankly one of my faves too! ❤️🙏🏽✝️I don’t think I ever knew this song. This is an old video, but still so beautiful! Thanks for playing. ~CHRIST IS LORD, give Him your life~

Hi Charlie, John Farnham is an Aussie Icon to so many Australians. You really want him to send chills down your spine, listen to his ballad, Burn For You, guarantee you will be blown away. Also have you heard Guy Sebastian sing Climb Every Mountain from his Australian Idol days and his first release, Angel's Brought Me Here. Have fun, stay safe and enjoy.

Listen to Bonnie Raitt's JUST LIKE THAT and she plays the same style of guitar - spartan, relying as much on the beat, an hypnotic string with full chords reserved for special moments. Chris uses this for WHISKEY AND ME, as well. Songs that rely on words while the music is almost a spell.
