Vocaloid is a singing synthesizer app. Basically is having some singer robots on your computer. They were designed to replace a real singer! It’s really cool.

Vocaloid is a digital musical instrument, but instead of making a normal sound, putting the notes and writing the lyrics makes it actually sing, as if youre playing a piano but someone's voice is coming out instead of a normal piano note, and you have full freedom to control the singing of the vocal by editing everything about the way it sings, the pitchbending, the volume, the formants, the breathiness, etc to manipulate the emotion and the style of the singer inside your computer theres lots of purchasable Vocaloid voices, around 90+, many of which often come from notable voice actors and singers too! (although the more notable ones are usually on the Japanese side of Vocaloid) you are pretty much buying and installing someone else's voice into your computer for your own personal use basically! theres also a bunch of other apps with similar purpose as Vocaloid, although mostly less developed and generally cheaper (and sometimes free) such as UTAU (free), DeepVocal (free), Cevio, SynthesizerV, etc

@@bulgarianssing5185 they each have their strengths, I personally prefer UTAU, but it's harder to use. Making a voicebank is about the same difficulty, but you can convert UTAU voicebanks to Deepvocal, so that's your safest bet if you're planning to record one. I'm sure you can find several comparisons on KZbin to see which one you like best
