It’s easy to look at all of the Upper Moon Demons as monsters, but almost all of them still had a human side to them as well. For Upper Moon 1 Kokushibo, he managed to get along with Muzan pretty well by just being super open and not being upset that Muzan could read his mind, because he was extremely loyal and didn’t intend to betray him. Instead of being an unfeeling Demon, Kokushibo actually welcomed challenges for his Upper Moon 1 spot, because he still had the pride over his sword skills that he developed as a human. For Doma as much as a monster as he was, when he saw his followers going through various predicaments and situations in their lives be it love or tragedy, he’d always wonder what it was like to feel and wanted to experience human emotions so that his life would have some meaning. For Akaza he was a weird case among demons where he actually liked talking with Humans, and would often have long conversations with people he was going to eat so he could get to know them, likely because of how lonely he truly was.
