Sohyang is a singer and performer who accurately expresses the meaning and lyrics of the song. Many vocal coaches and people cry as they hear her song and are moved. She is never a common singer who makes the listeners feel comfortable and shed tears She is definitely world class and a singer with special abilities

I give the girls credit for giving it a shot. They are very young and will continue to grow and excel. I'm a huge Sohyang fan and admirer but early in her career she was also pitchy and strained a lot. It took her years and years and 1000's of hours of practice to become one of the best vocalist on the planet. If they continue on this path, skies the limit for these ladies. They have the talent and the drive. Can't wait to see what they progress into. They are only going to get better and better with time.

We need to remember that So Hyang in the upper register, is second to none even counting everyone in music history. So while I’m not very fond of their interpretation of her version, I can appreciate how they gave this their best, fully knowing how steep the requirements were for this arrangement. I also liked some of their harmonisations. I hope more artists can appreciate So Hyang’s beautiful arrangements and try covering them.

you have no idea of the circumstance they performed in. You do not know that Wowoin called the girls in on a 2 hr notice just after Typhoon Ulysses devastated the country. The girls were an emergency replacement, so had just a small window of time to get to know the band. Furthermore their electricity went out ovenight, and then they found they had no running water either in the AM. So under the circumstances, no wonder they had no prep or rehearsal, and were utterly representative of their country. You need to get the whole story, not be judgemental!

I'm a huge fan of this song and love Sohyang's version, heard more than hundred times. They exactly tried in Sohyang's modulations, lines. As Yazik says, being brave is good but I should say they were TOO brave. I know it may be a suicide to cover Sohyang even for good singers. But they just don't have enough prowess. Agree that the whistle is the worst. It was unnecessary. Even in the music video version that whistle immediately take me away from the feeling of the song. Sohyang used her smooth head voice at that part and it blends so well with the flow of the song.

You are correct that this song takes practice to perfect. Not sure how old that video was but here is a very recent version of the song that the group performed which is much closer to perfection. From Washington DC, I think that 4th Impact is the most talented girl group on the planet, but just like wine, they have gotten better with time.

Pulling off Sohyang's perf is not an easy task at all. I give them credit for singing in a team and not trying to copy all of original song into their version. The girls have more room to grow and i hope they progress like how Sohyang has been doing. I don't hate this version, but Sohyang's version holds a very special place in my heart.. so i am already biased. 😁

Come on music Fans! Quit arguing SoHyang is my all time favourite but I also am a big fan of these talented Artists( ever since watching them on BGT) This is not my favourite performance of theirs but I still enjoyed it! This song was written for one to sing not for groups and that makes it harder! They are Artists and want to do it their way so it won’t be sung the same as SoHyang! I love the song, I love the Sohyang verion and I love to hear the 4th Impact girls sing this song of comfort.......There is room in my heart for different renditions of this wonderful song! I feel the same way about the song Somewhere over the rainbow....I get it the pure version is loved but to me having people cover you and put their own twist on it is the highest compliment....

Yazik, thanks so very much for this great analysis and reaction; I will attempt to call their attention to your analysis. Talk about bravery and courage...this was right after the Typhoon Ulysses had tore through the Philippines. At their own house, they lost power overnight, had to all huddle in one room for warmth, and then were called by the Wowowin show just 2 hrs. before to be asked to be an emergency fill-in. So they hastily got themselves together, probably had a very few minutes to familiarize with a band they did not know at all. Under those circumstances, those slight shortcomings you noticed are pretty understandable! Just after this, they did a shortened a cappella version of When You Believe. Please react to their Never Enough as you mused, because there you will hear their lower tone and guaranteed you will be awed as others have been! You can also hear a dynamic combination and a whistle from another of them on their cover of Dynamite, which was so good, it won a TH40 Ph Cover of the Year award in November.

Excellent reaction. This was as you said one of their first attempts at this live. I’m glad that you can realize there could be other issues that contribute to a not perfect performance. With that being said. The sister on the far right, Mylene, does all the arrangements for the group.
